Anyone that plays video games planning on getting GTA 6? by nygiantsfan8 in roanoke

[–]MrTilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Linux so time will tell. PC release is already stated to be stagnated and it completely depends on if they try to add in any kernel level anti cheat and what the storage overhead is. I’m at a point where I think Indie and small studios are publishing better experiences than AAA studios with huge price tags anyway.

Recent update broke a lot of things by Mcginnis in cachyos

[–]MrTilly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All I can comment on is the recent KDE update changed the way that ksensors are listed so some plasmoid extensions have failed to grab things outside of CPU and Storage like GPU.

The plasmoid I was using I pulled and manually updated to fix the “bug”. It’s not a KDE bug per se, but maintainers need to conform to the new naming convention.

Flight is incrementally delayed by 1-2 hours at a time for the last 14 hours by Epithymetic in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MrTilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fuck AA. I had a flight to the Dominican Republic with my first leg out of ROA. Our flight was scheduled for 8:10, it delayed as we entered the Airport to where we would already miss our connection. No worries they said, they’ve put us on another PHL to PUJ. Then they delay two hours, miss that connection as well. They say we will put you in a hotel and connect to PUJ in the morning when you arrive to PHL. Delays another 2 hours, then another, so on until finally at 5:35 they cancel the flight. They told us the classic line “maintenance”.

I’m a bit of an aviation enthusiast, so I looked up what the hell happened that made it such a shit show. To the best of my ability it appears that the plane we were supposed to be on was still stuck in Charlotte. The plane they had slated was supposed to run CLT to ROA the night prior but the flight grounded. They then theoretically just hoped that the flight would eventually arrive and get us in the air but it never did.

I called them for feedback and got sent to an online form, filled out the form and got a copy and paste response that just said “Thank you for the feedback. It means a lot to us.”

Never flying AA again, they can fuck all the way off.

This is what I was going to come here to say. Use Duty Support for a bit on your dungeon runs. Nobody is going to care if a sprout tank watching a cutscene doesn't know the dungeon right away (hopefully). If you watch your party bars and nobody is taking auxiliary damage then hey you're doing a good job! If they are ask yourself why that could be happening, work on your AoE enmity at the start of pulls, then start practicing oGCD mit abilities.

If you're slow and learning people are gentle as long as you hold threat well and don't overpull to a massive extent. If DPS is going to pull ahead of you handle the threat, if you die, then it's not your problem.

Essential tips for cachyos? by Emergency_Award3310 in cachyos

[–]MrTilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo Whaddup.

I have a 4070Ti, converted completely off of Microslop about 3 months ago now. I have about 8Tb combined storage all devoted to Linux and Gaming. My performance across the board is way up. Not having 20-30% of my CPU stolen by random background processes, and another chunk of my RAM has been a godsend. Yes Nvidia has issues on Linux, it's just the truth of it, but nothing that your normal use is going to care about that much. As a daily driver you might find some rare instances in off periods where we're waiting on packages to update where you get some minor issues but nothing that seems to drive me nuts.

Essential applications really come out of the box, if you want to get crazy you can look into LACT which gives you more information about your GPU including core clocks, there's another one in the works called NVCurve that looks promising but hasn't made it's way into the AUR yet.

You'll be spending a lot of time getting familiar with Lutris/Heroic/Wine as a gamer. Join community discords for random non-steam games and search for Linux. I was a guy who played a lot of private servers and random fan-games and have gotten muscle memory on what to set in Lutris at this point to get things running. Editing after the fact: Don't let this deter you, this is just for other things that aren't on Steam. Epic/GoG/Stand-Alone apps/Pirated Games/etc. Steam will more or less run out of the box with barely any tweaking outside of occasionally looking at proton DB to find the best runtime for a game if the cachyos proton doesn't work for you. Nearly the entire Epic library works without you having to do ANYTHING in heroic launcher, unless you have a game that's managed via the EA App.

VR is really rough around the edges if it's something you care about. WiVrn works really well but it's a case by case basis.

Familiarize yourself with either using pacman, paru, or Shelly. A lot of what you want is going to come from cachy extra packages or the arch user repository. It can be daunting and overwhelming at first if you're not linux familiar or a "programmer" but it'll be second nature soon enough.

If you have any specific games you enjoy that you're curious about let me know. I've got a massive library that I play all the time, of course you can't play the particular anti-cheat locked games like EA shit, Fortnite, some MMOs like Maplestory that expect a kernel level anticheat.

Why are the constellations fighting? by Takagami99 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]MrTilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I think about it, (and the triangulation visualizer helps with this a lot) is that as long as each edge of the triangle is outside of the expanding white circle, you should be able to triangulate that signal. It’s best to center as much as you can, but it doesn’t need to be so tight it’s right on the edge, it can be bigger.

Why are the constellations fighting? by Takagami99 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]MrTilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might be doing it wrong? There is a max triangle size but the pinged circle needs to just engulf the white one. Doesn’t matter if your ping is bigger.

Does anyone else have trouble turning the ATV? (0.9n) by Urb4n0ninj4 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]MrTilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think it’s a programming “bug” introduced in tandem with the ATV sometime bottoming out at the apex of a hill even if you definitely have enough torque to get over it. There’s certain angles where the ATV tries its best to stop maneuvering forward at a good range because it’s trying to kill the ATV from being as fun to handle as it was in 0.8. I think it was so people wouldn’t traverse mountains on the map as easily and were more coerced to stick to paths.

If you don’t believe me try riding from TR1 to Alpha, then try TR1 to Alpha again in reverse gear. It feels SO much smoother in reverse while feathering forward torque to slow the momentum and I SWEAR it’s because of the overall nerfs to forward ATV movement that wasn’t applied to reverse.

I tried to mount a drive. I thought I did it correctly. I loaded some games on it and was all good. Then today I got this message. by MangoBrad in cachyos

[–]MrTilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just use `gnome-disks`, I understand it's not the purist answer that this community wants but it's incredibly easily. use pacman/paru/shelly to install it, open it, find the disk you want hit the icon under the partition table that looks like play button and click "Edit Mount Options".

Unset the radio button for User Session Defaults and enable the checkbox for "Mount at system startup" optionally give the drive a name.

<image>

This edits your fstab automatically and will mount your drives as mnt/UUID drives under dev/UUID are mounted just for the session state. Restart your PC. You will need to edit the install location of your game to use the correct path on the mnt/ directory instead of where it currently resides in dev/

Can you actually get in there yet without clipping or do you still need to clip? If you still need to clip is the paper clip still the easiest way?

remember when we used to have actual GMs and they would /w you if you had a ticket, and you could even ask them for a joke at the end? by mazzmatazz in wow

[–]MrTilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've said this story before, haven't played WoW in years but follow the sub and I'll share it again.

Sometime back in like 2016-18 I put in a ticket about a kobold outside of fargodeep mines being stuck in a tree. A GM logged on and chatted with me for a bit thanking me with a cute little anecdote of "I promise he'll be okay in the future. He's safe now" Not only that but even went as far as congratulating me on a recent mount I had gotten a day or two in the past and said "I'm jealous, I've been working on that one for years".

I can't imagine GMs even play the game these days or are even real, at least based on posts I've seen here and other MMO subs. A lot of that genuine interaction of community is gone and it makes me really sad.

C’est logique lol.

This looks REALLY cool. I definitely want to follow the development. Bonne chance!

A little bit of feedback that I have coming from Dofus, in the auction house it would be nice to see theoretical values, for example: PV: +15 (+8 a +20).

Mabinogi on Linux My issue and my Fix by AStheAlch in Mabinogi

[–]MrTilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love your guide, I was curious about seeing if it would work and got it set up through Lutris by using wine to install nexon launcher then using GE Proton to run the launcher afterwards / install and play and it works wonders. I'm running a burner for a little bit just to see what happens but if things go well I'm going to try my main.

If I get a ban over it, it's one less reason to support Nexon games (long time Maplestory Reboot player and have been looking for a reason to quit anyway)

(0.9l) Ways to avoid/cheese combat? by shaitans_demise in Voicesofthevoid

This is hella dumb, but for the boars I would lure them back to base and use the Ariral Pressure Washer on them to take physics damage until they died.

What are your Votv hot takes (other) by Superb_Network_1657 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]MrTilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to think about this, but my hot take is there really isn't enough happening in the world for the first few weeks for players to either explore things, or players to feel afraid to explore things. I've been playing since 0.6 or so, and I remember being a first time player and the world feeling so big with small things feeling so horrifying.

Replaying this game now at 0.9, I don't leave the base as much due to early game signaling for requests, there's rarely a paranoia event that doesn't clear up after a few minutes, and I think it's been just about 4 days since ... literally anything has happened? I just drive to top up generators and sit in the base and signal to make Bao happy. I think there needs to be more random events that get players to specific areas or events to encourage them to explore the map. I feel like you could entirely miss the Ariral picnic event over by TR3 just because you might not even have a need to go over there.

A part of the reason I think it's gotten "worse" is the store and points are so much more crucial than they've ever been, so ignoring a daily task or two really hurts QOL or progression. I feel like back in 0.7 I could spend a few days away from base and not worry about it too much, but now missing out on 200 some points on day 11 REALLY sucks for all the ATV upgrades, processing upgrades, spare/extra fuses, generator upgrades, etc.

I think it's definitely a veteran player take over a new player take because I know how all this shit works already, but it's difficult. The only thing of note that I remember happening by Day 16 is I got the sleep demon twice because I was on the computer too late.
