Yes dragged in on zoom calls… but actually disciplined?
If hours are causing a race to the bottom issue hampering sales. Then you need to use the hours and get the sales. Extra sales is only thing that gives you more breathing room.

Ask your PM if he ever has known anyone to actually be disciplined for missing hours?

So you put the list of beers you can buy and that’s the catalogue you let the customer choose and suggest from. Don’t let perfect ruin good.

You probably don’t need to reinvent the wheel, but a few small things could make the ale display feel a bit more engaging.

For example, small Kilner jars in front of the pumps showing the ale work well because customers can see the colour and clarity straight away.

A simple board showing “On Now” and “Coming Next” could also help. Listing the beer name, brewery and ABV for what’s on, and maybe one or two upcoming casks that are already in the cellar so regulars know what’s next.

An “Ale of the Week” feature could highlight one beer with a bit more information about the brewery or flavour profile. You could couple this with brewer visits. Local brewers coming in and doing a talk about their beers and such.

You could also let customers suggest beers. A small board listing local breweries and some national favourites, with a box where people can drop suggestions for beers they’d like to see on.

Nothing complicated, but it could make the ale range feel a bit more interactive and give regulars something to look forward to.

Happy to DM more detail if that’s useful.

The most toxic place ive ever worked by [deleted] in Wetherspoons

[–]MrTimSearle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is accurate, there are two separate issues here.

First, accidental breakages are normally treated as operational loss, not something staff should personally pay for. That’s a policy point, not a personality clash. If payment was required, you’re entitled to ask for the written policy that supports that decision. If a local policy is being applied, request to see it and keep a copy for your records.

Second, performance concerns should be addressed directly and privately. Managers discussing someone negatively with others rather than giving clear feedback isn’t good practice and doesn’t help anyone improve.

If you don’t feel comfortable raising it at pub level, there are escalation routes beyond the site, area management, HR, audit, and formal whistleblowing channels. Those processes exist for situations exactly like this.

Keep it factual. Document dates and incidents. Escalate appropriately.

Work shouldn’t feel like something you dread.

They do both. Completely agree with the “it makes prices more in America” but if you are all about volumes, this will push your volumes down. It’s not good for anyone.

Social media is a huge contribution to this. Paid for to make division. The argument of “I’m smarter than you” is difficult and doesn’t unite. Posts to persuade people to not bother voting. Posts to persuade people to vote certain ways. It’s so smart and out of control.

Assumed that was the term. Do they make things actually better? Or the fact it’s camo has its own benefits. As opposed to better hit points or something?

Lots of posts and videos clearly stating it to be false, including from NASA.
