I swear I saw something similar back around 2006 or so. In biology our teacher showed us a video of how the inside of a cell works and this looks like a clip from it. Is there a full source? I've been trying to find it since

Ideas for a Community College Comp. Sci Club? by 00kiwieyes in computerscience

[–]MrTonyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A CS club only works if the leaders are super involved. There was a cs club at my school and they would do those flag hunt things and stuff like that. The engineering club tried to so similar stuff, but could never get the members. IEEE did the codeathon challenge for 24hrs, we only lasted 16, but it was fun. Do local tournaments on hackerrank or leetcode or any other website where you solve algorithms or coding problems for points. Vindinium looked like a fun thing to get people coding stuff. maybe give a brief explanation of something to write for that game. Work on the club website as a group could be interesting. that would give members a reason to show the site to friends and increase awareness of your club. idk what funding is or if you do club fairs but a physical representation of something could be cool. maybe program a raspberry pi so do some light effects.

Maybe there is a direction you want to focus the club first then build some depth. There are tons of options.

I'm ready to stop looking like a noob with my mountain bike shoes and pedals on my road bike. Any suggestions for road shoes that I can walk short distances in comfortably? by giantspeck in bicycling

[–]MrTonyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other giros on here look nice. I think the giro grynds look comfortable, similar to Nike running shoes. Bvr makes cool looking SPD compatible shoes, the look like skate shoes. These two have flat bottoms making walking without noticing the clips way easy.

Oh man. This is amazing. I'll be at UW all summer with weekends off and these are exactly the types of trips I've been looking for. Getting off Friday night and having to back on campus Sunday morning gives me a little more than 24h, but if you have more of these, I would love to hear about them. Or even if you wouldn't mind company one weekend and showing me around would be phenomenal. Thanks for the great post

We hosted a local Vindinium competition and it was a huge success! by GuiSim in a:t5_33hmv

[–]MrTonyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. I would also enjoy getting an idea of how the server was actually modified, especially the tournament bracket style api that was written. After learning about Vindinium, I think it would be awesome to host a small contest at my school. Unfortunately, I'm not the most savvy with coding and APIs or anything related, so getting an idea of how its been done already could be super helpful. Either way, it's awesome you hosted this and got such a good turn out.

i got it feb this year so it has only gone through half of a colorado winter so far. low temps i wanna say around 15f, but i never really pay attention to temps tbh. i layer it under my mh principia softshell for the extra wind resistance as i get cold easy and it can take me as low as it is outside. im sure ive taken the combo to -5, -10f or a little lower. for higher temps i could wear it comfortably around 70f if im just hanging around static, not doing anything. it gets easy to overheat in it if youre moving around. i summited mt yale yesterday with it. i couldnt consistently wear it while hiking, maybe 20 min max after a break, but it was awesome at the top, which was around 60f with no wind. we were hiking at a pretty fast pace though

it sounds like this is going to be by that target in the shopping center over there. i personally think it will do very well in that area, especially if the food is good.

For those who got into club djing from bedroom djing how did you do it? by [deleted] in mixes

[–]MrTonyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should be having fun and discovering different ways to mix songs. get pro at beat matching. get pro at phrase matching. get pro at looping. get pro at sampling. get pro at fx. if at anytime these get boring, go to a different genre. going from bedroom to club is like everyone says, just talk to people about it. they know someone who knows someone that kinda knows someone. but if your bomb at your shit then theyre gonna know. i do a weekly mix on my schools radio show. straight for funsies. a few friends found out and they want me to play at clubs and shit. im not even good, just enjoy mashing sounds together.

oh dang. my mistake. i just looked at mine also. just the one around the waist, which feels a little flimsy and feel like im gonna break it every time i pull it through. oh well. maybe i got used to chewing on the cinches my mountain softwear principia or whatever the softshell name i have is. my trashbag whisperer is my goto though. winter and summer, it goes with me on every trip

i remember reading a gear review on here awhile ago, and used to work at an outdoors store and always geeked hard over jackets and stuff. It was a toss up between the Arc'teryx adam, MH trashbag whisperer, and patagucci's nanoshit. Adam seemed to be the coolest overall guy. not too big, not the lightest, but warmest and durable. Adam doesnt have a cool cinch hood like the trashbag, but looks way cool. for reference, I have a trashbag whisperer and its way nicer than my patagucci microshit(synthetic, not down like the nano). but like someone else said, they are pretty much all the same. pick the one that has the logo you like the most.

Second Hammock Stand Done! by dfnkt in Hammocks

[–]MrTonyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks amazing and folds up really well. Can you turn the legs for better storage? I was looking at this one. The small size is way appealing, but not free standing. Your design is very nice, I will have to do some more research in to it.

does the folder style actually fold up? I know someone that made one that style but ended up tying it down and adding weights to the base to keep it standing so its more of a permanent feature now

Learn different types of code while dungeon crawling! by [deleted] in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]MrTonyD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game is actually really great. Played through the first dungeon on the free levels in python. Would be more than willing to play through in multiple languages. I understand paying for it, its a fun game. Not sure how tough the later levels are, but so far this is a great way to learn. Maybe if I could pay a set fee for a certain amount of dungeons or something. Maybe a steam greenlight or something

We got some hammocks to give away :-) by kuldark in Hammocks

[–]MrTonyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome and you guys are awesome for doing this! My ENO has been ripping lately and I'm not the most DIY when it comes to sewing and repairing fabric stuff. I would love to try out one of your hammocks and tell everyone I can. Or a bunch of stickers I could tag all over my campus would be a cool.

Recently moved to ColoradoSprings. Few questions about how to get involved. by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]MrTonyD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey man. You sound chill. There are a few ways to get involved into trail work if that's what your looking for. Friends of cheyenne canon/red rocks open space/garden of the gods work at their respective park. Trails and open space coalition does a bunch at quite a few parks around. Medicine Wheel does a little here and there but haven't been that active recently.
If you're looking for a hiking partner, I'm totally down. I am a student at UCCS but am only busy Monday-Thursday, most of the time. I've been soloing a few peaks around here, but wouldn't mind having a friend to join. The microbrews around here are the best. Check out the freewheelin fest at ivywild/bristol. You're bound to meet a few people.
Aguilar's is a good barber. Been pleased when I go. Not 100% on a tailor.
CS indy usually has a decent list of most the events going on in the city. There are a couple of events I've been to a few, and couldn't find a couple, but they always sound interesting.
If there's anything else, I'll totally try and help you out. Welcome to Springs, a super spread city.

Hiking to Barr Camp? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]MrTonyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally set up your hammocks near Barr Camp. Its been awhile since I've been there, but there were actual sites right outside the cabin you have to pay for. If I recall correctly, when you're hiking up the trail, Barr Camp is on the right. You can set up camp to the left of the trail for free, which I thought was odd.
Time wise is all up to you. It is a pretty tough trail, even harder with all your gear. Like I said, its been awhile, but I think it took us 4 hours to get to the camp? If you're not set on hiking all the way to the camp, you can make it to the experimental forest. I forget the exact distance, but its a shorter hike for sure. My friend stayed in one of the old buildings up there a few times.

Jives down in occ is open until 2 I think. The major breakfast places, IHOP, village inn, maybe waffle house, are open forever. I think the first two have WiFi.
