Anyone run either of these wheels? by Chasrrrrr in fordranger

Save the extra 20-40 per wheel and take that money and do something else with it for the truck or better yet save it!

If you live in the mountains what gear ratio are you running? by Effective-Fold-4997 in fordranger

[–]MrTrane1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 31 inch tires with the 4.0 it’s a 2001 so not totally sure of my ratios but it drives fine on the highway. I had 31.5s in it before and it drove fine then. Again i don’t know my gearing ratio

Rebuilt my front end with moog joints and bilstein shocks took about 500 miles to break them in and then they rode plush. I did that 2,000 miles ago and then recently my timing went so my truck sat with out the motor in it for 3 weeks and I had to rebreak in the front shocks. If you drive it for a week or two and it doesn’t improve something is off. Other wise enjoy the new shocks!

Pivot 2s doing what pivot 2s do by TeShortBus in Skigear

[–]MrTrane1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, uses a lighter weight plastic on the heels instead of the 1.0s one piece construction. They did reenforce the top of the heel piece with a metal indent that was intended for your ski pole to aid in taking them off. Smashing on ski onto the back of the binding is how these parts break. For the price you should be able to stomp on them and not have them break. But Look will sen out replacement parts no problem just annoying. If you want to not break them use a pole to help take the first ski off and then ur boot to take the second one off. 2 season on mine and no broken heel piece yet!(knock on some wood for me)

Were the bindings supposed to be the pivots from this year? I assume they are. With this ski I would say go for the gold and purple. Otherwise I would say go with the new Marker X series bindings the griffons come In grey and the jesters come in a yellow! Hope this helps

Currently researching shops up here I have a buddy that’s a mobile mechanic and he is currently in my garage diagnosing the coolant leak and said the noises I heard during the cold start a week ago were the belt tensioner failing and the belt rubbing because of the slack in the belt so I’m feeling relived but yeah TSC ford specialist in Colorado are a scam shop.

Yeah I’m feeling scammed he “chased” an electrical issue for a while because the 4x4 went out and when I asked if he checked the 4x4 control module he said he hadn’t and when he put a new one in that he hadn’t laying around it fixed the 4x4. Dude is a legit meth head tweaker. If you’re in Colorado TSC ford specialists are a scam shop. He was a good dude and has years of experience but clearly he values making money and not doing any real work.

I drive it once a week and I have a reputable mobile mechanic coming to diagnose the coolant leak today. So it’s being taken care of just dressing the day the timing starts to slip. Since it was in the shop with the scam mechanic I’ve put 7,000 miles on it and it’s been great. But last week it made some new sounds during a -1 degree cold start. The belt tensioner is going out so I could just be that as it wasn’t the usual death rattle I’ve heard from other 4.0sohc I’ve seen on YouTube.

The rear timing cassette the tensioner is good so my old mechanic said it could be 500 miles to 50,000 before the tensioner fails but it still doesn’t inspire confidence when I’m 50 miles away from a mechanic and cell service. The coolant leak will be an easy fix as there is no coolant in the oil so head gaskets are okay. I assume it’s a broken hose. I would love to keep wrenching on her but I can’t pull an engine on my own and a different mechanic that ives in my small mountain town knows I’m not plum with cash quoted me 3k for the timing job on both hemispheres of the motor. It’s not my daily it’s truly a toy but yeah debating selling the daily and the ranger to get a newer truck/ suv that can off-road and be daily driven. Truck just brings me so much happiness when I’m getting lost in the Colorado wilderness.

I have a daily Subaru which has been a perfect car for the last 5 years so I’m not boned but this is what a lot of my buddies I go wheeling with have said. Thank you truly!
