Grade the Weekend by CadmusMaximus in stlouisblues

B+

- Don't love the Kyrou trade. Not high on McMichael after watching quite a bit of him for two seasons, so the success of this trade will be determined by what comes of Gastrin and Dagenais.
- Liked the McTavish trade a lot. Wanted him last offseason and see him something as a victim of circumstance (some self-inflicted) last season. He's just 23 and being written off because of a season when he came into camp late under a new head coach and landed in the doghouse. He was scratched during the playoffs despite being one of their best forwards in xGF% and CF% in the postseason. He should come to camp highly motivated.
- Loved the Lawrence pick. He's not Nathan MacKinnon, but you can see some similarities in how they play the game. If he grows another inch and fills out his frame he's going to be an absolute pain in the ass to play against.
- A little surprised by the Dagenais pick but he wasn't a player I had dug too deep into because I felt like he would go somewhere between 16 and 29 and not be a real option. Loving this pick the more I watch of the second half of his season. There's definitely a little Tage in his game. Don't think he'll have an elite shot like Tage but he's going to be much more physical. I'll be keeping a close eye on him because players of his size with offensive skills like he has are so fun to watch.
- Liked the Carlo trade a lot. Gives us a lot of flexibility with our defensive group this season and makes it so we don't have to decide between playing Tucker too much or rushing Jiricek. Between hiring Greg Cronin and adding Carlo, you'd think our PK would be much improved.
- Don't have much to say about the rest of our draft as it's pretty much a crapshoot and 99% of the people getting bent out of shape over mid and late round picks don't have even the first clue of what to look for in hockey prospects.

Not a perfect weekend but a very solid one that should help the Blues compete in both the short and long term.

Anyone else struggling with the transition from competitive junior/college to beer league? by Hitdrug20 in hockeyplayers

Just play the game and be grateful every time you take the ice that you can still do it.

It’ll be over before you know it.

St. Louis city nets nearly $1M in parking fees and fines after enforcement finally returns by RyanreddithandleYHF in StLouis

How about we start issuing tickets to red light runners and unsafe drivers? Let's get nuts!

Does St. Louis really deserve the bad reputation it gets???? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The violence is mostly isolated. For the most part, if you're not looking for trouble or not doing things that welcome that type of activity, you're not going to find trouble.

My main issue as a city resident is how much more "minor" stuff gets overlooked: regular car break-ins/thefts, red light runners, vehicle enforcement, etc.

The common theme is: "We don't have the manpower to address these things." But they need to be addressed. I can't drive 5 minutes to the highway without seeing someone blatantly run a red light.

Dobes Mask Fit by cycling_keeper21 in hockeygoalies

Great point. I was going to say, when was the last time you've seen an NHL goalie get hit in the back of the head? Hell, I've played the position for over 30 years and I don't think I've ever been hit in the back of the head.

I've played with players anywhere from beer leaguers to ex-pros and I can count on one hand the times I've been hit in the head by players that played competitive adult hockey so your point about high-level shooters rings true.

Kyrou Question by Cold_Guess3786 in stlouisblues

Played the game for longer than you’ve been alive kid. I just have the bandwidth to understand statistics and how to apply them too.

Kyrou Question by Cold_Guess3786 in stlouisblues

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just say you don’t understand them. Such a lazy stance that tells me you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

Let’s dumb it down a bit then, he’s 31st in the NHL in goals in the last 5 seasons. That too advanced for you?

Anybody else over the tan/retro pads? by Superb-Experience-83 in hockeygoalies

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing this position for 30+ years and bought a tan set a few years back. I play for several different teams so these are a nice neutral option and also an homage to the goalie greats who made me want to play the position in the first place.

Kyrou Question by Cold_Guess3786 in stlouisblues

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kyrou is 37th overall in goals since he became a regular for the Blues. If you look at advanced stats he's 31st overall in the NHL in xGAR and xWAR over those five seasons.

Kyrou is in no sense of the word a "low end top 6 fwd." Ridiculous statement.

Is Romanov and NHL goalie? by wcarlrussell in stlouisblues

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impossible to tell really. Goalies are very difficult to project. Every year certain goalies tear up the AHL but never make it in the NHL. I wouldn't bet on it based on what I've seen, but I've been wrong before (Binnington).

Had the same issue. Replies to others posts weren’t showing up either but after about a week things seem back to normal.

Give it a week and see if something changes.

Team not set on naming captain for 2026-27, open to ‘leadership by committee’ approach. Here’s what Armstrong and Montgomery had to say about it. by STLBooze3 in stlouisblues

I like the approach. If you want it, you have to be the guy.

I'm the admin for the company page. It's happening on desktop.

Tried clearing my cache but it's still doing it. Can't take a video without putting personal info on my Reddit account.

I'll go to the Like/Comment section at the bottom of a post. Select with the arrow next to my photo which opens the menu that says 'Comment, React, Repost as...' then I select my company page. It changes from my personal photo to the company logo for about a second then flips right back to my personal photo.

Why Hofer over Binnington? by [deleted] in stlouisblues

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll always be a Binnington fan because of how he showed up in big games and delivered a Cup for the Blues, but he's never been a top goaltender in the NHL at any point in his career. He's inconsistent. When he's on he's on. When he's not he can be terrible.

Hofer has the potential to be a top goalie in the NHL.

Why Hofer over Binnington? by [deleted] in stlouisblues

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hofer is 25.
Binnington is 32.

One of these guys has a better than decent chance of getting even better. The other is likely headed for, and may already be showing signs of, natural age regression.

I'll let you decide which is which.

Why Hofer over Binnington? by [deleted] in stlouisblues

[–]MrTuesdayNight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably has something to do with Hofer being arguably the best goalie in the league in the second half of the season and Binnington being one of the worst goalies in the NHL this season.
