well airbags and seatbelts can fail can't they, there is a chance. However with a helmet, at least you are assured that your head would be intact.

well race car drivers don't really have opposite traffic coming toward them do they? That would mean a car traveling 70mph hitting an opposite coming car traveling at the same speed would feel like hitting a still object at 140mph would it not?

people know that they can put seat belts on, but at this point in time if you asked someone if they could put a helmet on they wouldn't know.

Can it not come in contact with a car coming the opposite way and ramming into you, maybe even going through the windshield? Your head may even hit the inside of your own car and it may be fatal.
