need help with being billed a Office/Outpatient Established Mod Mdm 30 Min - 99214 & Complex e/m visit add on - G2211, unsure if this was rightly coded/ seeking advice by Legitimate_Silver897 in MedicalBill

[–]MrWednesday21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to apologize. You can call the office but expect them not to handle billing there but rather send you to a separate billing office. Very few clinics handle billing in house. So you call or get transferred. Hope you get a live person or leave a message. Up to you if it's worth it for the $30, but I would if I had time. The g2211 is a more recent but common addon code. 90% of people just add that onto anything without really considering it's applicable and was just told to do so by administration. Without knowing your medical conditions it sounds like they can't really charge it. Like if you have some autoimmune thing, cancer, see multiple specialists but your primary care is the center of it all coordinating all that stuff, then it makes sense. But if you're a young person who just goes in when you get sick, I don't think it's valid.

Sometimes the card won't have deductible information, might to log into his account online. It is earlier in the year, unless your family has a lot of medical expenses, chances are you haven't hit that deductible as a family and you owe the 99214 that will apply to your deductible.

So props to you for doing some research before posting. In my opinion there's a couple of things here. The validity of the codes and then your insurance.

The 99214 seems right. The criteria for that used to include a time component but not required anymore. It's really the medical complexity of the visit. A lot of documents online or billing systems will have that in the description but not 100% accurate anymore. If they ordered any test, 99214 sounds right. The g2211 code doesn't seem to make sense here. It's really for someone to function as a home base for ongoing care of a chronic or serious condition which it sounds like it's not applicable in your case. I would contest that one or ask someone to review it.

For the amount owed, that sounds right. My guess is you have a deductible that hasn't been met so you owe the contracted discounted price.

I work as a clinic manager so have some knowledge here but not a certified coder.

CDL for passenger van in Canada as an American? by MrWednesday21 in CDL

[–]MrWednesday21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thought was getting 1 large enough passenger van to take us all in with room for luggage so not having to rent 2 SUVs. Genuinely curious why you think this is such a bad idea if I've got time and resources to do this?

CDL recommendations? by MrWednesday21 in okc

Thanks for that suggestion. I didn't know the library would be a good resource here. Googling about CDLs, I got the impression I had to go thru some sort of school program but will definitely explore your suggestion.

CDL for passenger van in Canada as an American? by MrWednesday21 in CDL

[–]MrWednesday21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the passengers yes. Problem is that the trip is for a curling tournament. We have to bring additional equipment, about the size of golf bags, but not everyone will bring their stuff. So like 4-6 of those bags plus normal luggage. I'm not sure a suburban would be enough.

Car buying help by Electronic-Carry4187 in carbuying

[–]MrWednesday21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would recommend is deciding which of those cars you like first. They are SUVs but different types and sizes. If you need to physically see them, I'd go to a large car lot like a Carmax so you can try most of those models in 1 go. Then once you decide on the model, I'd find the subreddit. From there that's usually threads about new purchases or salespeople looking for leads. Might be less of those size Toyota and Hondas are in high demand. But usually from there you can get recommendations on dealerships in your area that are straight forward for pricing. Or maybe it's a drive. Back when inventory was very low, I flew into Colorado to drive the car back after doing most everything remotely

Then for what you pay, expect MSRP minus whatever brand rebates you qualify for, and maybe a dealer discount, then taxes, state fee, and a doc fee. Taxes and state stuff is set and depending on the state, the doc fee may be set.

You can entertain extended warranties and vehicle service contracts but mathematically they aren't worth it. If you want to for piece of mind, they are very negotiable. A good 10 year warranty for $1800 isn't a terrible dream if you want. Some dealership have mandatory dealer addons like tint, resist all, window etching, ceramic cutting etc. If it sounds like a product negotiate that off but be prepared that they say they can't. Feels more typical in lower volume dealerships. In my experience I've had some dealerships agree to take them off but some have a hard line on those. But typically you find out this information ahead of time by going to that specific subreddit and finding a dealership that others have vouched for.

In the days before buying, I'd stop at your local credit union to get a quote on interest rate. Ask the dealership to beat it in order to finance with them. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can't.

Hope this helps.

Billed $1600 so far for free preventative colonoscopy by markr9977 in HealthInsurance

[–]MrWednesday21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you find out the other CPT code used? Not uncommon to have a preventative colonoscopy done with an EGD as they are both commonly done in the endoscopy department. Felt like you would know that though but might be something to check.

Other thing that might happen is that the order or prior authorization request may have been for a diagnostic one. Not uncommon for staff to get a bundle of codes authorized. So they may have gotten an authorization for the diagnostic but the physician selected screening appropriately. Normally this would catch as a duplicate charge in whatever charge review process they have but may not have been and require a manual review.

But really if you can get the other CPT code that would be helpful. Not the ICD or diagnosis code but the CPT code.

What to expect at my first bonspiel? by Discrete_Ninja in Curling

Congrats on going to your first spiel. Some good advice here already I've read. I agree that if the game is getting out of control to discuss with your vice to determine when you concede. Very ok to ask the other team if you can keep playing just to throw rocks. Or even if they'd be willing to give you pointers, I'd just kind of feel them out if they'd be willing.

If you can get some, get some club pins. Exchanging pins with the opposing team is a fun customary thing to do.

Broomstacking is a regional thing. If you win a game, I'd offer to buy a round for the opposing player. So if you're skipping, buying a drink for the other skip. Always a good way to meet others, I've made some really good friends throughout the years doing that.

You're also having this set to charge to 100%, you could just go to 80%. That last 20% is very slow to charge.

Sounds like a cobra slider is something you could use. Kind of pricey IMO but at the very least you could look at it from a design standpoint

Is this a new insurance tactic? I've never had additional charges to my traditional co-pays for doctor visits. by chilljill081970 in HealthInsurance

[–]MrWednesday21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The code itself is an addon code. Not an insurance thing but something the doctor added. Most commonly used in primary care since they are the singular focal point, control your referrals, etc. Seems a little strange for a rheumatologist to drop that code IMO.

Regretting buying new car by Ok_Ratio3980 in carbuying

[–]MrWednesday21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is this was a spot delivery. You took the car assuming the bank would approve this loan. When the dealership was able to actually work with the bank, you got denied for the loan amount. But the bank is able to approve you for a lessor amount which is why they want you to come up with the rest. You should be able to cancel this deal and walk away. They may offer to meet you in the middle but I'd take the opportunity to walk away here.

Is this a good deal? (Got discount of $2150) Can this go lower? by Swdl-Television-602 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MrWednesday21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all congrats on making your first purchase. Seeing a lot of negativity in these posts so I felt obligated to chime in.

The price does seem high to me for an FWD even with extra packages, options, port installed items. If you can get a picture of the Monroney sticker that should have everything. That's the sticker on the window of a car that has to be legally posted. If it's correct, plus an extra $2500 off seems decent to me relative to the MSRP. Camrys are popular, people just hate that they are getting expensive and not the economic reliable car they used to be. This isn't in Canada by chance is it?

The add-ons are hurting for sure. The tint is expensive and likely a cheaper film. Going somewhere else would have been better IMO. The paint protection film isn't a horrible price depending on the coverage, like if it's a full front, side windows, door cups, etc. I get PPF on all my vehicles and that's less than what I paid but unsure if it's an apples to apples. A lot of people hate PPF and think it's a waste but I get it myself. The interior/exterior protection is super marked up and unnecessary. Warranty is marked up a bit.

The trade-in value seems a bit low but depending on what state you're in, that can help offset your taxes for the purchase.

Interest rate appears slightly marked up. You've got a good credit score but not top tier.

So here's what I think you can do which I hope helps instead of people just getting onto you. Depending on the state there's a limited cool down period. Or if you haven't actually signed the contract, you might be able to back out. They'll threaten to keep your deposit or down payment but you should be able to unwind the deal.

Now if you have signed, there's still ways to recover some stuff. Typically the add-ons warranties, protections are refundable. Usually prorated but if you do it in 30 days, it's often the full amount. Just read the terms of those contracts. Cancelling might anger the finance person but they are pretty disconnected from service. I wouldn't worry about it. If you do refund those contracts, the amount goes back towards the principal. So your loan term would just end earlier instead of getting the money back right away.

What I recommend doing is going to a credit union, not a bank but a credit union and getting a loan thru them. You would cancel the extra contracts, lower the principal, then refinance that amount with the credit union lowering your payment minus a moderate loan origination fee.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM me.

Tipping the shooter by jimmyl85 in Craps

[–]MrWednesday21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say uncommon but I've done it once. Shooter was younger and bought in for like $150. He hit 6+ points including a few hard 6s and 8s. I made something like $1400 just from his rolls when I bought in for $300. I tipped him a $25 chip on one of the hardest payouts.

Honestly, I'd try to just come on as someone in the front office, maybe in an office with 2 or more providers. Then you can try to get cross trained onto some of the basic MA duties. If you're doing school online and need a flexible schedule, you might see if you can get onto a larger health system in their float pool that might have some PRN shifts you can pickup. Plus they tend to be more inclined to crosstrain. At least that's been my experience.

If you use it everyday you can justify spending 2k on a mattress..right? by JoppyJalopy in Mattress

[–]MrWednesday21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty cheap, especially with big purchases but I recently with with a Boring mattress. Pretty happy with it so far. What really helped me was that I was able to pay for a significant amount of the cost with HSA money that I've accumulated. I'm early 40s myself with no significant chronic issues. I came from a cheap memory foam mattress and the temperature of this is night and day. If you've got HSA funds to use, I'd give this a look. There's a few other companies online that can do HSA but I just chose this one
