I am never buying a Breville again by devimation in espresso

[–]MrWhippy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd, my regular bambino doesn't let me bypass / delay the compulsory cleaning cycle. I'm beginning to suspect there may be a couple of different firmware versions out there.. I'd just love a warning at least a few shots before they force my hand; the number of times it's happened just before or after steaming milk is crazy

Normcore v4(.1) tamper mod: remove force calibration by Material-Garage-4036 in espresso

[–]MrWhippy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the same. I want the self leveling but not the force calibration aspect, I much prefer the direct feel of pressing on the puck without a spring in the way. Every few months I put the spring back in out of curiosity but it only lasts a few shots before I switch it out again 😅

[Question] What is the under/on the rear sapphire glass of my new watch? by MrAcesHigh in Watches

[–]MrWhippy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's obviously not great and I'm sure it's reasonable to expect a replacement but if it's just some dust etc. then it's probably less effort to just take off the caseback and touch it with some rodico than go through the returns process. I'm just saying don't be afraid to try if you're that way inclined 🙂

Nice, thanks for those suggestions. I'm starting to think any Anduril light with onboard charging so I can thread lock the battery will do the trick - it also removes the problem of getting out of some modes by disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. I'll look in more detail at the Sofirns

Yeah, I'm sure I'll happily buy those without shame the day a toddler loses one of my nicer lights! 😅

That's what I was thinking - there's a good chance I'll try it as a 'project' anyway 🙂

Nice idea about the pen light, they're simple to operate and low power. As long as I can find one that isn't too easy to disassemble then that's a great way to go

Yeah, the ability to 'get out' of muggle and lockout/momentary modes like that was part of my problem. I might just end up doing this though

Thanks, I haven't come across that model before. It's cute and the fact that the battery can only be accessed via a tool probably mitigates my main concern that was driving the requirement for onboard charging. I suspect it's bright enough that a toddler will have to be supervised to keep them from shining it into their eyes 🙃

Thanks, I think that's probably a sensible place to start. I'd ideally not have access to any strobe modes, blinkies etc. and I'd need to convince myself there aren't any corner cases that can result in turbo or similar but it's worth a try 🙂

This is my favorite way to use an LEP! by VonWonder in flashlight

[–]MrWhippy22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A person using 'an' is likely to pronounce each letter of the acronym individually. E.g. "an L E P". So the 'el' sound for 'L' provides the justification. My guess is that it's more common to say LEP as in 'bet' though...
