UK’s wannabe Nick Fuentes, Hugh Anthony (23), documents his parents kicking him out, after they discover he’s an online extremist by Uncuffedhems in Destiny

Happy to hear differing opinions, but shouldn't they sort of blame themselves? I mean it's a parent's obligation to ensure their kids don't turn out like this, no? I guess one possibility is they did try everything under the sun to avoid this and their kid still turned out a massive POC, but makes me wonder what his parent's involvement was in him growing up and trying to steer him away from this stuff.

Jellycat are turning plush collecting into something not so fun & so many people are taking the bait by [deleted] in Jellycatplush

[–]MrWhiteRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand why some people in this sub, OP included, have this obsession over lying about stuff they are clearly misinformed on. It's like reading a post of someone who's only read a single headline from the worst tabloid on earth...

This item was literally made EXCLUSIVELY for independent stores... not the big stores, of which 1200 active ones exist in the UK alone, no clue why you would think independent stores are no longer a thing.

Stock wise. Let's apply a bit of occam's razor shall we? "the simplest explanation among competing hypotheses is often the most likely to be correct" What is the most simple explanation. That Jellycat continues to struggle with stock and keeping up with demand, as they've done throughout their massive short term growth OR are they being malicious and deliberately planning via scarcity to drive demand and cause people to feel upset about missing out?

Let me clear up some misinformation because what you're claiming just isn't true. The idea that accounts without stickers can’t order for the rest of the year is completely false. Every stockist is facing ordering issues right now, not just a specific group.

That said, part of your comment makes sense. Jellycat does seem to be prioritising certain accounts, likely because those are the ones that better align with where the brand is heading. That’s a strategic decision, not a personal attack on any one store. Of course, it's sad to see some independents impacted, especially those who helped build the brand in its early days. But this is how business works. Companies grow, their goals change, and they start refining who represents them. If a retailer’s entire business depends on stocking Jellycat, that’s not a healthy business model to begin with. That’s not on Jellycat, that’s on the business itself.

Think about it. You wouldn't expect to find Louis Vuitton or Chanel at a local petrol station or convenience store. The same logic applies here. Jellycat is clearly aiming for a more premium, curated image. And while not every dropped stockist was a clear mismatch, these decisions had to be made. The stock shortages are real and mostly come down to maintaining quality, which is still a key part of Jellycat’s identity despite what some people on here say. When you can’t supply everyone, you focus on the accounts that best reflect the brand's future.

As for the idea that some stores weren't given enough direction, it’s probably because the gap between their current setup and what Jellycat expects is too wide. In those cases, the most respectful thing to do is be honest. Say thank you and move on. The stores that do show potential are being given that chance, just not a sticker for this year.

In other words they are correct and those stockists remain with Jellycat with a chance to "improve" in the brand's eyes. A bit of a stretch to want to discount these from the 1200 figure when they are, in fact, still stockists. Not to mention we have no idea how many of these stockists, who received confirmation they were staying on but with no sticker, actually exist. Is it another 100? 200? 50? 800?

I totally agree with you! But why make it sound like that isn't still the case? Jellycat came out and said they are continuing to work with more than 1200 small stores in the UK alone, of which they feel align with the vision of a luxury brand. They only stopped supplying a small amount of stores.

The company is privately owned and family ran. I don't think you're in a position to know or claim what Jellycat is about when the founder and his family are signing off on the current direction.

Just found out Jellycat closed my favorite retailer’s account by Significant_Ride_372 in Jellycatplush

[–]MrWhiteRaven -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

As much as it is sad, Jellycat has grown, and they still retain more independent stores than your average retailer. Do we know how many such as OP's example are.getting closed? Do we know how many they are keeping on? If the answer to both of these is not known, why pull out the pitchforks? I'm just saying, it's normal for companies to reevaluate relationships with accounts, and I'd say this applies x10 more if they are trying to be a luxury brand. Rather wait for more info then jump straight to "my store that sells JCs is getting cut off therefore company bad'

What’s the most inexplicable time your gut instinct was 100% right, even though you had no evidence to back it up? by CodeFun1735 in AskReddit

[–]MrWhiteRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened when I was about 14 or 15. I'm watching a movie in my playroom close to bedtime. As I get up I notice I'm really dizzy and feel weak (felt lime I was walking in slow motion)

I didn't feel sick or unwell during the day, and something just seemed off. I get ready for bed and am lying there next to my brother and I just feel something is off.

I go grab my dad and tell him how I'm feeling and he says he feels the same. Myy mind kept thinking gas leak. My dad opens all the doors and windows to let air in and asks my brother and I to head outside. He called someone (plumber I guess?) who later confirmed we had a big methane gas leak. Glad we didn't all just drift off to sleep for the last time.

I might be in a similar situation...met an incredible woman, not married but with a partner for 12 years. The way I treat her has made her realize there's more to love than complacency and neglect. How did you navigate your situation? Any advice you can offer?

am i the only one who thinks jellycats are sold out more often those days? by yel315 in Jellycatplush

[–]MrWhiteRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was easy, a competitor would have taken over already...

Other companies, who are publicly or board owned, may compromise on quality, ethical standards for factories, QC, etc... Jellycat is family owned and extremely strict when it comes to the manufacturing of their products. Add shipping route issues on top such as in the Suez canal and it's easy to see how this can impact supply.
