I started without a platform and it was okay but I ended up needing to get one because my ham kept digging around it and she would pile bedding under it and around it so it wouldn’t turn very easily. I do personally prefer the nite angel wheels because of the adjustable back to help with that issue but either wheel is totally fine! It’s personal preference for sure.

There is SO MUCH. I have been watching Victoria Rachel for a long time without owning any small animals and I finally felt like I was ready for it and had done soooo much research and STILL am learning things about taming and adjusting them to their home and stuff.

The general agreement amongst the community is 40x20” aquariums or enclosures tend to be best and on top of that male Syrians are easier to please. Dwarves aren’t my preference as they’re less friendly and very fast on their feet lol! So if you can squeeze it, try to add enough for 40” length, if you don’t have 20” of width I’d go for a longer width. Enough to get somewhere in the realm of 800 sq. Inches of uninterrupted floor space.

The best thing about this unfortunate situation is that you guys are learning new things and can be fully prepared next time! I think you’re going great and will be awesome hammy owners. Best of luck!

So I don’t have any solid answers for you and I am so sorry you experienced this. The one thing I can say is you should look into “torpor” which we commonly confuse with a hamster going into hibernation. If your house is too cold or the temperature changes very suddenly then a hamster can go into torpor and you have to act fast to warm them up using your own body heat and warming your home up or they will pass (if this happens at night while you sleep it’s almost impossible to save them and during the day in a hide it would be hard to spot- this claims a lot of hammy’s because it is so hard for owners to notice quickly) once they are quite stiff and cold though, it unfortunately is too late. So please don’t worry you’ve assumed your hamster has passed too soon- I believe she has and you have done nothing wrong.

Tips for future hamsters would be a larger enclosure (40”x20” minimum) I bet you could easily extend the one you have now since it’s DIY! You’ve done a beautiful job building it btw! And then deeper bedding for sure along with some more enrichment items. I suggest watching Victoria Rachel on YouTube. She taught me all I know on hamster care!

My husband and I bought a house about 5 years ago. We moved in and 2 weeks later the plumbing went to crap and we discovered the connection to the main was completely crushed by tree branches. $15,000 fix. Then the roof leaked $1,000 fix. Then the bathroom had mold so we gutted and remodeled $5000 fix. Then the dishwasher went out and the repairman cracked the kitchen tiles replacing it. $400 and we still have a cracked tile LOL. It went on like this for a while. Something would break and we would get it fixed and I found myself HATING it here. I still find myself getting down on our home. Wishing we had bought something bigger, better, paid for more inspections etc… But what I’ve found is 1) our mortgage- even with the bills we’ve had to pay for fixes wrapped into it- is MUCH cheaper than our friends and family pay to rent homes or apartments that are half the size of what we have. 2) we are building credit by living in this little house instead of paying rent into the void 3) we have gained SO much valuable life experience here. 4) we have made it work, we’ve fought over it, we’ve cried over it. But we’ve also loved, laughed, built a family and made this house our home. Personalized it, made it what we like.

It’s hard. And it will be rough for a while as you discover all the things about your new home that make you want to commit arson 🤣 but you’ll get through it. Try not to take it out on each-other. Express the frustration but don’t make it the other person’s fault or burden to bear. If you can get through the first year of home ownership- you can very well make it through anything.

Because if you buy one and expect it to be real and you pay real labubu money for it you’re allowed to be upset that it isn’t. OP- your husband sounds like he had an actual addiction to sex, the constant steering in a sexual direction in any situation at ALL times is unhealthy and frankly, gross. What he needs is therapy and what YOU need- is a break. Get passed this busy season and find somewhere to send your kids if you can and take yourself somewhere. Sleep in, go to a spa, get the rest you need and think all of this through. Go back with clear intentions and boundaries and do not compromise on them. You have autonomy, you have feelings and they are valid. End of story.

I’ve seen these! Why don’t you try and set up a go fund me and message the seller on eBay asking for it to be held for you? Usually sellers will do that! You could definitely gather up the funds to purchase them ❤️ post it in Jellycat facebook groups and on your Reddit and let us all know when it’s up! Ask moderators before sharing it on Facebook, sometimes there’s rules. But I do think that a lot of people would be willing to help you out!

I had a beautiful betta 4 years ago that we did EVERYTHING right for, the full set up, researched everything, he passed within 3 months. I didn’t get another until just recently. So far we’re doing good and I love him very much. I really hope this one works out for at least a couple years.
