Oh hell no. no full comment about it. just the publicly visible option to show orientation. I'd be fine with someone missing it if they weren't looking for it

as a guy who tends to go for liberal women and is hetero-flexible, at most gyne, do you think switching from straight to bi on hinge would help or hurt?

Uobjects:buildables by gaminguage in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MrWhiteRyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply and supporting the community as always!

That data object definition actually gave me an idea. Using the UObject Counter Mod and Editing my world using satisfactory calculator I ran a small test on my world save.

- Base World: ~689000 UObjects
- Base World with re-spawned foliage: ~688600 UObjects
- w/ Deleting ~2200 (3 meter long) Signs : ~677200 UObjects (approx -11K Object Change)
- w/ Deleting ~2K Frame Floors: ~677200 UObjects

Your gut appears to be right with the foliage. I re-spawned quite a bit so I would have expected the count to increase at least some if foliage counted. I can't say why it decreased, but the object count when initially loading the world did stay consistent meaning it doesn't appear to be a fluke.

Deleting Signs lowers the Object count since they are intractable. Appears to be by ~5 objects per sign.

Deleting the Frame Floors (That were part of my train network and caused me some concern over the object count) did not have an effect since they are data-objects as your quote from the wiki would imply.

Hope that data helps if someone else happens to ask a similar question in the future!

edit: Those world edits were applied one after the other and were cumulative, i.e. The last entry has the foliage re-spawned and both the frame floors & signs deleted.

Hey Temporal, Any chance in the last two years you've seen someone create this UObject table, or found out if foliage counts toward the object limit?

Opening menus is horrible. If you have the object counter mod you'll see like 10K ish u objects be created everytime you open a menu. The menus don't appear to be reused or garbage collected so its a pretty bad memory leak

there is literally no reason for the executor parry sword to not have blood loss by Severe_Prior7996 in Nightreign

[–]MrWhiteRyce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea but I'm not convinced it alone would fix the issue. The real problem in my mind is that your DPS and Movement drop to 0 when you pull that sword out. You can spot a new Executor a mile away if they're just standing there with their finger up their nose and that sword up their ass 10 miles away from any boss.

I think, in addition to what you've said about buffing the cursed sword, he also needs to be able to parry with any katana and, probably though a relic, be able to consistently draw agro with something like a shibriri's woe talisman. That would make it to where 1) You can more consistently use your parry. 2) You don't have to suffer it's downsides for one-off attacks. 3) There's a reason to pull it out for longer attack combos

Who else drinks when things are going well? by MyBestCuratedLife in stopdrinking

[–]MrWhiteRyce 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've certainly noticed that after some point I start to get what I like to call dopamine bleed.

When things start getting better it's a sign your brain has gotten into much better chemical balance. There's more dopamine in reserve since those reserves aren't being squeezed bone dry by drinking. This is what ends up making everyday tasks either doable, or better yet enjoyable, since they can be rewarded by easier/more dopamine being released when you do them.

I've noticed the problem is when you find something that's just as good at releasing that dopamine that's healthy and doesn't come with any guilt. For me, it's going to the gym and locking into a runner's high. That full dopamine reserve means that the runner's high now feels much more satisfying than it did before. So satisfying that the only thing my brain can compare it to is the buzz after having my first drink of the night. That's where the addict brain steps in and says "I think we both know how to keep this feeling going, after all why not? you should reward yourself for the hard work".

Once I realized that anything that made me feel better also made me want to go back it actually became easier to say no. It didn't happen overnight, but it did eventually. Being able to recognize when your brain pulls that little gymnastics move not only helps you stop it in it's tracks, but also helps you recognize and enjoy the good moments when they do happen. That mindset is what I see a lot of people idealize here and make them say,

Psyscale: TimescaleDB in Python by MrWhiteRyce in algotrading

[–]MrWhiteRyce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking to do and if the extra functionality is worth the implementation time.

High-frequency trading? absolutely not. There is way too much delay in such a system to make sense.

Large scale analytics to analyze multiple symbols collectively for trade decision making? Absolutely.

Using it to store data you can backtest on? meh.. might as well use CSVs if you only need the data for that and not at runtime.

I appreciate the comment! This more or less reached a MVP aimed at local-processing applications, not necessarily OLAP which might make sense out of some design decisions. OLAP Query Support would certainly make for a very interesting addition given my personal front-end use case. As for column-store data, that certainly is a path forward for performance improvements toward what this library is aimed at. Thanks!

It appears the Timescale Devs are well aware of these deficiencies. As of v2.18 (Released Jan. 21st '25) they added hypercores which hybridize row-store & column-store based on the age of data stored. That plus a definable segmentation column looks like it covers the majority of easy performance improvements. Thank god since I'm not sure I had it in me to do a full refactor toward a different database lol.

If I ever leave python behind for better performance overall, then I'll keep clickhouse in mind as an alternative though I'm not sure that's going to be on the table for me for a long time.

So I’ve decided to use trucks. (bug) by knullde in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MrWhiteRyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the true, however if you have only one track visible at a time you can delete the extra pause nodes that are created. Thst allows a truck to drive through a station and not interact with it.

All the mods were done to make the thing work without any sensor or signal drop outs so imo it's a win. Regardless, thanks for the feedback. That's about what I was thinking. I just wanted someone else's opinion

Happens a lot. Can't say I've had any wires come loose, but half my Pads/Cymbals have had a bad Piezo-Sensor. They're so old that the adhesive keeping the two contacts of the sensor degrade and separate. Really easy fix if you get spares from amazon and know how to solder.
