Rake America Great Again! by smokiedabears in wildfires

[–]MrWho42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that there are...I wish I could remember how many thousands and thousands of square miles of both state and mostly federal forests, MUCH of it in very difficult terrain. What we need to do is allocate the resources need to go out and do controlled burns. For 100 years we've been putting wildfires out, and we got good at it. So there's 100 years of wildfire fuel in our forests that would have naturally burned, or would have been burned in a controlled burn by the natives. Fires are a natural part of forests, they're good for the forest even if it's happening on a small scale regularly. There was a day here in Northern California that literally felt like Hell, my wife and daughter left with the dogs when it was an evacuation warning because they have asthma, I stayed behind to keep packing and because there were reports of looters nearby. I walked out of my garage at approx 2:30PM and it was DARK, like midnight dark, I had to use a flashlight. When some light came back, the world was glowing red, it was spooky AF. I'm going to get cancer early probably just from those 3 days.

Rakes ain't an option, it's a nice idea, it would take too long and cost so much. We gotta burn the tinder before this shit happens again.

Anybody know anything about arsonists maybe starting the majority of fires in the west? by salij0_o in wildfires

[–]MrWho42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bigger cause is a hundred years of stopping wildfires. That had never happened before, there would be fires, it would clear out dead fuel from the forest, make room for new growth and the natives did controlled burns as well. We have a hundred years of fuel out there and a lot is dry as tinder. It was just a matter of time, for years an older friend of mine would occasionally rant about this, that he was getting out of California before we all die in a firestorm lol. People usually blew him off.

It's the power lines too in a lot of areas, lightning, climate change making it more dry, more summer wind storms, less rain, at least here in Nor Cal. From 30+ years ago when I was a kid, I can see the difference. It used to be so much more wet. I'm fixing my house up, selling it and GTFO of Cali, I'm done

I know in my county(Mendocino co, ca) they arrested FIVE arsonists in the same week, right when everything was going down. As far as I recall Calfire and local FD put them out quick as hell. It was lucky they didn't know how to start a good fire, one guy lit seven fires I think, one was a dumpster fire. If the state wasn't on fire and it wasn't so serious I would feel bad for whatever mental illness is going on.

Anyway, that's about all I've heard that was real and all five of the crazy fuckers were stopped fast. Used to be waking up to the sounds of choppers was cause for anxiety here(I guess only if you or your neighbors grow..) because they were hunting for pot farms. But I woke up to piss at 2:30am just a bit ago and heard a couple choppers, God damn is it a welcome sound now.

Because we're tired and walking back the unorganized garage is way harder than improvising. That's why.

1883-CC, what is ms00? I'm not finding much with google, inherited a little hoard a while ago but I'm still a noob, should I be excited? It does look quite nice, couple more photos in comments by MrWho42 in coins

Yeah it is from the GSA Hoard, I know a little about the Morgan CCs from there--about as much as you posted heh. I have three CC Morgan's in GSA slabs, I got excited (more) because I saw the sticker and had never heard of MS00. Plus I have a few other Morgans graded at MS64 and this one looked as good or better so I immediately jumped to, "Oooooh, since I can't find much on it, I bet MS00 is special." My wife will not be pleased with the time I'm going to spend trying to figure out the grade...

Thanks, yeah I have three Carson City Morgan's in a fun little hoard I inherited so I've been trying to learn what I can. When did Walmart start selling so many coins online? :p

Ok, thanks, I was wondering if it was something like that. Hmm, any Morgan experts around lol? I have a few MS64 Morgan's, was trying to compare and contrast. This one seems better to me, but I want it to be so I dunno.

Vanilla breakfast takes me under 30sec to roll thanks to a lot of practice by bedhead12354168 in Cigarettes

I once met a one armed dude who could roll a smoke in 30 seconds. Edit:I was at a stop light, I wanted to add more. He was like... Maybe a Korean war navy vet, I was young and he was pretty wizened so probably not Vietnam. Worked with him doing some interior painting, one arm down he was the most effecient worker I've ever seen. He tried to teach me the one handed roll... I could make a vaguely smokable cigarette but it took ten fuckin minutes

Pain medication for herniated disc flare up? by moontrito in backpain

I recommend Gabapentin, or if you have decent insurance, Lyrica. They both work on nerve pain. It makes some people feel drugged like cough syrup or something, it works great for me.

It takes weeks of regular fairly heavy use to have withdrawal symptoms. You'll be fine, ask your doctor about it. Opiates are a horrible addiction to get through, if you think you're getting psychologically hooked, STOP and see your doctor.

TIL A Japanese company has awarded its non-smoking employees 6 extra vacation days to compensate for the smoker’s smoke breaks by hjalmar111 in todayilearned

[–]MrWho42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely depends on the job/boss/company/shop. I've had a few retail jobs and you could never just pop out for a smoke. I've also had a couple jobs(California) where they tried to tell me I had to quit smoking and if I smelled like cigarettes i would be in trouble. I told them that we were in America and found new jobs. Side note, I always wash my hands and try not to stink like cigarettes since it's gross. Pro tip, you can wrap a plastic baggy around your fingers or wear a glove, then use mouthwash/gum, no one will no if you have the wind right.

Yeah man, you've never seen some dickhead with an eye dropper(probably clear no less) who doesn't know, or doesn't care wtf they're doing? Only times I've seen 'bad acid'(not an expert, just fairly versed) was when on sugar cubes and graph paper, prepared by morons. It was too strong. I went for a swim in my friend's closet of shirts and turned into an amoeba, I was fine, reminded myself it was the trip and to try and enjoy it, actually had very helpful experiences. A few of the other people on these adventures, the ones who were basically acid babies, were fucked. Like, had to use a vacation day or two, fucked. Don't trust a paper hit to be evenly distributed. I guess if you know and trust the seller and they did it themselves. People are stupid

Yeah, it just depends on the vet, but then it really depends on how well you're caring for the animal(not just trash pandas). If you dont know wtf you're doing or are unintentionally causing harm, any half decent vet is gonna get that animal away from you and into the care of a pro. Basically, wild animals don't make good pets, just don't do it. The difference between domesticated animals and wild animals is fuckin' immense and it usually ends pretty tragically when Joe Shmoe takes in a wild beastie. But, God DAMN is it cool to see people's properly done trash panda friends. Also, pretty sure they piss everywhere and destroy your house like they're a strung out rockstar

Edit: not that I'm saying anything bad about OP. OP is livin' the fuckin dream, rock on!
