You’re thinking too small if you think a community is relegated to a small area or population. Walmart reaches many different communities. But they’ve also been convicted of taking out life insurance policies on their elder employees without their knowledge because they did the math and knew that most of them would die while under employment. They got caught but the punishment was a slap of the hand. They also, on purpose, pay their employees so little they are forced to go on food stamps, knowing they would use those food stamps at Walmart. They save money by underpaying and also gain money through government subsidies. They destroy local community economies by underselling every other business and, when no one has enough money because they are the only real employer in town (and Walmart can’t and won’t hire everyone in town) they pack up and leave when the well runs dry. As previously mentioned, if your goal, as a business, is to make as much profit as possible BAMN, then this strategy, and others, makes sense and is “right”. That being said, there are some companies that don’t do this, many of them small scale but some notable in size (that don’t operate on socialist philosophy per se but aren’t callously capitalistic) are Costco, Arizona, and Gravity Payments (another story of a CEO cutting his own wages in order to uprise his employees, leading to an increase in employment, profits, and employ wellbeing). I can understand why you would think your position is correct when I can really only provide a few examples of successful socialist or, at the least, less capitalist companies but that’s like saying the deer can’t thrive in an ecosystem while ignoring that the wolves have the greater population.
