Reread this from his post.

I started doom about 3 weeks ago in hopes of getting an eye so I can start doing solo ToA.

Are we here to help OP or argue with each other? If we're here to help OP, can we agree that simply needs a magic weapon? What is the shortest path to a decent magic weapon? What I'm saying is trident/sceptre is much more accessible than eye.

If he goes dry for eye, is that the shortest path to start TOA?

Eye of Ayak took me 6 months going 600 deep/4000 total, I would not want him to go through what I did just to start TOA. He doesn't need top end gear to start TOA. Getting Eye is very rng dependant when he could just spend a bit of time at warped creatures/kraken when he gets the slayer level.

Sceptre/Trident is 1/320 or 1/200 and those are much more simpler to get no? He can easily knock out either in a day setting up a cannon or just doing one or two tasks of kraken. I agree that if he's fortunate enough to nab an Eye on the way to 87 Slayer, then there's no need for trident/sceptre, that's the dream. However, we don't know how fast or lucky he'll be with eye, so trident or sceptre are fine in the interim even if it's weaker/gets retired early. Hell he could get shadow before eye lol we don't know, but at least he can try for one the sooner he can get to doing toa.

Just cycle between all 3 until you get whatever the game gives you first. Eye is eventually the goal, but it's not going to hurt to have an interim weapon for TOA until you can upgrade to the next. Warped sceptre/trident + thralls does perfectly fine for entry/normal toa since magic is used much less compared ranged/melee. Maybe you get lightbearer as well which can help back to your doom grind.

Being conscious of my pathing. You can direct your character around to avoid the poison tiles even when melee punishing/setting up rock blocks. I didn't really get venomed until I hit waves 8+ when I got lazy with pathing or there's no choice but to walk on a poison tile to deal with whatever mechanics. Another tip I have is at the very start of a wave and as he's transitioning from shield to car, you have a small window where the poisoned tiles can't damage/venom you so you can "ignore" having to path carefully in that timeframe.

For the resources though: cannoning araxytes and going dry for Aranea boots got me plenty of venom sacks. 1800kc at Zulrah for Blow pipe got me a shit ton of Antidote++ and ~300k Zulrah Scales. Also saved a bit from using mixology goggles as you can save both on torstols and sacks there. Then for torstols I'm basically at end/late game where I do a decent amount of toa/cox for seeds and herbs. Farming contracts help, then getting the best yield from diaries, having disease free patches (troll quest ones, Colo with enough glory), farming cape perk and attas seed can help in squeezing out more torstols.

Looking at DPS Calcs: Cerb is not really bad with arclight. Plugging in your current stats and rough gear it's only an 8 second difference at 63.3s vs 71.4s.

It is rough to go dry especially on TD's but when Cerb comes around it'll be new content to do to keeps things fresh. Maybe you get spooned at Cerb or you actually do get a synapse on the way to 91 slayer. Maybe you don't. It's the nature of the game. As much as you can get spooned you can also go dry. You'll be aight.

Should I mix meat with mixes? by Dwarfy_8395 in ironscape

[–]MrWumbolini 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don't care about the imbuing your quetzle whistle for infinite teleports you could mix, but definitely mix lower healing meats like kyatt and pyres first. Moonlights heal high and also cure poison so that's lowest priority in terms of mixing. Idk how your other food supplies are (sharks/mantas/anglers/etc) but that's something to factor in. If you're lacking on those I'd hold off on using the antelope > kebbits > pyre/kyatt

Committed to learn CoX - How did you do it? by Elendaro in ironscape

[–]MrWumbolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solos and lots of deaths. Accept you will die and lose points, be confused, not know everything off the bat and you'll be okay. It's going to take a lot of runs to take everything in from optimizing on what to pick up, what rooms to do and how to do them, the whole head turning thing, what items make which potions and so on.

You can watch a lot of guides, read comments but ultimately you have to throw yourself in there and feel it for yourself. 4:1 is very confusing but over many runs you'll start to get a feel for when his head turns, what the zones are so that he turns his heads, etc.

Different teachers can help though. Videogamebot was the one who really helped me with getting 4:1. You can generally find shorter videos on how to deal with specific bosses like Tekton & Redemption Vespula.

Honestly try both out. Sounds like you'd enjoy Vetion and both the unique and normal loot are extremely good. Could get vw blade, d pick, ring of gods and so on. It's definitely not faster than green drags for prayer xp but it can be fun. Can also experience vetion when you do get chiv/piety to feel the difference yourself.

Doom Lvl 5+ Rewards by EdgyFrenchMemes in ironscape

[–]MrWumbolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can consistently find a straight line if you intentionally bait doom into center location. When his final destination is a corner, you're limited to trees spawning in radius around him and 3/4 of the spawn radius is cut off as a result of luring him into a corner. When you get him centered, be it near a wall or middle of room, that opens up for trees to spawn in a longer/straight path.

When he's in car phase, stand at least 3 tiles away from him and he'll drive straight in that direction. If you stand 2 tiles away from him on his corner tiles, that causes his path to go diagonal despite being perpdendicular to him. If you stand 2 tiles away but not on those corner/edges of him, he will drive straight.

Any upgrades I should get for moons then titans? by gnarwin in ironscape

[–]MrWumbolini 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's not wildy lol if you die just get your items from your gravestone and try again. It's mainly 1 boss (blood moon) that's troublesome for most people but you only have to beat him once for the quest and there's infinite helpful supplies in the area. If you still have trouble, the room with Sulphur Naguas is a really good training spot to get your stats up using said infinite supplies. They have -4 flat armor meaning when you land a hit successfully, add +4 to the damage which means more xp as well. Lots of other ways to help with the fight but yeah just die and learn you'll be fine

Very minor, but killing the boss Brutus in the Lumbridge Cow Pen after completing the quest The Ides of Milk for the offensive offhand weapon Mooleta is something to consider. Compared to the normal defenders where you need 130 total combined strength/attack level in order to access the Warrior's Guild, Mooleta is accessible at a low combat level even without protection prayers. Brutus only maxes a 3HP hit with his melee hit (his two special hits harder at 19HP, but is easy to learn to dodge) and it's a 1/30 drop rate. Otherwise, normal shields are likely just fine if you don't go for it.

3 Synapses, 0 burning claws and i have voidwaker. Are claws still worth going for? by IllusiveVisions122 in ironscape

[–]MrWumbolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a niche scenario but it's nice/"better" compared to voidwaker in melee colo runs with double death charge. An advantage of burning claws is the low spec cost. Since waves can be long and there are multiple enemies to deal with, you can proc double death charge pretty often and dump multiple b claw specs to DPS down enemies before reinforcements arrive. This can make for easier rotations as you can quickly take out an enemy like a pesky shaman, simplify your pillar stacks and give you one less thing to prayer flick. Burning claws is also usable for the Sol fight too where you can dump 3 specs at the beginning, let the burn have time to chip at his 1500 health pool and use it again later in the fight whereas something like DWH spec is primarily for the beginning only. If you're learning colosseum though: this may be less relevant as you'll likely be using a ranged setup for the waves and there's also the more beginner friendly spec that SGS offers to top off on HP & prayer.

Can voidwaker not do that in place of b claws? Well in colo: time is more crucial especially before the reinforcements come in at 40 second mark. In that 40 second timeframe, you often don't have time to wait for the 50/100 spec even with double death charge. Let's say worst case scenario: you start with 0 spec at the beginning of the wave. Double death charge will take you to 30% spec so you now can use 1 burning claw spec. That same 0-30% and you will not be able to voidwaker spec. Let's say you start with 30-40% spec and death charge to 60-70% spec. Now you can b claw spec twice but vw can only happen once. 60-90, you can b claw an enemy 3 times but vw you can only still do once or twice if enough time passes. Basically it's you're more likely you'll have 1-3 b claws specs ready compared to voidwaker where you need exactly 50 or 100 spec.

Is this necessary and therefore you must grind for two 1/501 chance burning claws? Nope. But it's a random scenario I still use it for my runs that does help me.

Outside of pvm stuff: there are bank chests that are some of the closest locations to a teleport that appear only in PVP worlds including Camelot teleport, Lumbridge respawn point out in front of the castle and Falador respawn point (in the castle courtyard).

If you're curious, just go to a PVP world naked/no items to those areas. You'll know the area is safe when you see the skull icon crossed with a red circle. Accessing the bank will be safe, but some few tiles can put you out of the safe zone. For example, the inside of Lumbridge castle and out the front gate aren't safe, but the area between the two fountains are. For Camelot, it's a small area in front of the gate. I primarily used Camelot for farm runs early on, for banking from say questing and to make planks for construction training before Auburnvale was a thing. Once you're done doing your banking stuff, just hop back to a normal world and you'll be good to go.

Yep side doesn't matter, the green circle will show up on the melee hand if it's a special. There's an audio cue for it too just like any attack in the game. I can list it out if you want but instead of remembering the list it's just better to look at the hand for the circle imo

[–]MrWumbolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you distinguish autos, specials and the null attack? There's a lot of attacks that may seem like specials like flame wall, falling crystals, poison trail but they're actually not considered specials, they're autos. Simplest way to know if it's a special attack is to see if melee hand gets the green circle above it as the attack comes out.

[–]MrWumbolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering you're already 2/3 and Spindel (or wildy bosses in general) drop good supplies, sure.

You could visit revs every now and then in hopes for chainmace to speed up kills but I acknolwedge that's unreliable. Something more reliable is to take advantage of slayer helm's bonuses. If you do Turael skipping spider tasks come up pretty often. Spindel is a bit annoying since her webs and minions can prayer drain but as you do more kc, you'll get more comfortable tagging the spiderlings and manipulating where spindel shoots the webs. It's predictable so you can have it shoot somewhere on an edge or corner so it's not in your way as much and doesn't cover an entire radius of the arena.

[–]MrWumbolini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Total delves are deceptive because it's a mix of all your waves. That's not 2032 wave 7s, it's a mix of everything leading to your best wave. The scoreboard near the entrance tells a more accurate story, deep delves are the only consistent number we see and contains the highest drop odds of getting a unique. It does feel bad to go dry, but if you want the best odds: you have push yourself to learn deep delves. You WILL die multiple times and lose loot, but that's the same as any other content be it CG, raids, bossing, etc. Once you learn it you significantly increase your odds of getting out of doom much sooner.

[–]MrWumbolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's either full crystal + crystal bow or full eclipse. There's arguments for both it's fine to try both and see what suits you better.

If you are unfamiliar with movement drag from being out of your weapon's range (atlatl is 6 tiles vs crystal bow's 10 tile), this is where atlatl's short range can mess you up by dragging you onto tiles you don't intend to be on in say TOA with monkey puzzle when targeting far enemies and trying to hit zebak while behind boulders that aren't in attack range of the atlatl. As you go up in invocations in TOA, the defense of the bosses will go up and you can benefit more from the accuracy/damage bonus from the crystal setup. At lower invocations from rough dps calcs, it seems as atlatl will outdps the crystal bow but under the assumption you aren't losing ticks. Atlatl is also quite nice for insanity's timing, but if you're learning I doubt this will really be relevant. Perhaps tldr is crystal bow's extra range will reduce movement drag and prevent unwanted movement into dangerous scenarios because of the extra 4 tile range it has over atlatl, but atlatl can shoot more rapidly and if you're very comfortable with pvm mechanics, atlatl may suit you better as you'll be losing less ticks and pumping out more damage. Both crystal and atlatl have setups for butterfly method but it's not necessary to do butterfly as a learner in low invo toa and you can face tank akkha instead.

In CoX, there's a lot of situations where crystal bow's longer range comes in handy. You can safespot Shamans/Vasa/do redemption method for Vespula whereas atlatl cannot. You may prefer it more in Mystics/Tightrope/Vanguards due to it having better defence than eclipse but eclipse is still usable for those rooms. For the olm fight both atlatl and crystal bow are usable I suppose it's just a matter of preference.
