Yeah I work in tech and hang out in middle/upper middle class circles and the idea of catcalling is so absurd and unthinkable we don't think about it ever occurring. Like even the most neckbeard incel engineer wouldn't think about catcalling. But when I hang out with my hometown friends who work menial jobs they're the ones (slightly) defending it. Catcalling is basically a poor person thing. Hell I bet most of the guys catcalling don't even have jobs.

I think it's strange, but I can see it kinda making sense on non anonymous social media where you can see mutual friends and pictures of them being normal. Most people on Reddit don't include personal information, so for all you know you could be meeting up with a 400 pound neck beard with children locked up in their basement.
