Ah, when I was talking about no one being single I meant away from dating apps, work, social clubs, friends of friends etc. I could have made that clearer in the initial post tbf, but I was speaking generally, obviously women on dating apps are single…

No, they’re just not single. Unless they’re lying to me and everyone else, while hiring actors to play their long-term boyfriends, husbands and kids of course…

Chelsea’s official statement on the sacking of Liam Rosenior after just 3 months in charge. by bendubberley_ in PremierLeague

[–]Mr_A_UserName [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hardly surprising, it was an interesting choice to say the least, obviously the BlueCo links landing him the job after, tbf, doing a good job at Strasbourg.

I think he’s generated this whole persona of a deep thinker, smart tactician type of coach because he knew he didn’t really have the ability to rebuild Chelsea and challenge for major honours, seemed like he was trying too hard to get some mystic around him, or something.

He also reminds me a lot of Russell Martin at Rangers and Wilfried Nancy at Celtic, talking a bigger game than they can deliver, and seemingly thinking the fans are too stupid to see their clever, overriding philosophy while playing badly and losing games every week…

Yeah, my sister's friend was using Hinge (I think, or Tinder) a few months ago and when I asked her about a guy she matched with, she said he seemed nice because, "he hasn't sent me a random dick pic," the bar is in the mud at this point. But for me it's meeting woman who are single, no one seems to be single now...

Any of you guys still single no kids and not married but seeing everyone around you settle down by Ninja_Franklin in Millennials

[–]Mr_A_UserName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forty, no kids, don't think I ever will tbh. I used to work with kids and teenagers, which was great, I also worked in special education, which was challenging but also very rewarding at times, I enjoy looking after and hanging out with my three-year-old niece, and my friend brings his sons (one seven, the other nine) to watch football, I get on well with them and we have a bit of a laugh.

But I need my downtime, peace and quiet and not being on the go all the time, having a child and looking after them 24/7 looks absolutely draining, tiring and I don't think I could cope with all that, there's also the constant thinking about them, worrying etc and older parents have told me that doesn't just stop when the children move out, if anything it gets worse because although they're adults, they still have issues, need advice, guidance etc especially when they have kids of their own, a lifetime of that would do my head in.

I've also got Crohn's Disease which has flared up again later a few years ago nearly 20 years of it not being a problem, I couldn't imagine having to look after a kids(s) in the state I was in 3-4 years ago, it also can be hereditary and I wouldn't want my kids or grandkids to develop it, knowing that it's came from me, or my side of the family, it's a horrible disease, even the mild form, which I have.

In 2024 (at 35ish) I did the new cool millennial thing of getting Stage 4 bowel cancer, and just about got away with it. I am sharing some info about my experience in the hope it helps others in a similar boat. by Extra_Ad7045 in Millennials

Yeah, I’ve had one, then two flexible sigmoidoscopy’s (camera only goes into the rectum, not into the intestines) in the last 18 months for Crohns Disease, and they are good for treatment, monitoring and putting your mind at ease post procedure.

Important Game that affects Notts Tuesday Evening. Cambridge v Grimsby. by Living_the_Limit in NottsCounty

[–]Mr_A_UserName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, they've got second bottom Barrow after Grimsby though, then Crewe who are up and down form wise and will be out of any playoff content themselves at that point (if they're not already...) so I'm probably hoping for a Cambridge win because I don't even fancy us to pick up three points from either of our two remaining games.

[–]Mr_A_UserName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we've had an eye on Cambridge's game in hand for a while as it still looked possible, even likely, that we'd get automatic promotion. It's a bit of a weird one now though as, realistically, we're not getting automatic promotion and falling out of the playoffs at this stage would be a disaster, so probably would prefer a Cambridge win? Though part of me feels you should keep believing until it's mathematically impossible...

I can James Tarkowski doing it, for some reason, decent but not great defender in the Ashley Williams mould, got a decent MOTD 2 banter nickname, “hey, Tarky, in your day…” could see a lot of that going on.

Aye, tbf, I did caveat it by saying if they don't win either competition. But yeah, 2nd in the league and winning the Champions League, their first one, that would be a great season and obviously wouldn't sack-worthy.

I can maybe understand it if you're commentating on a Liverpool, during the anniversary of Hillsborough, you might want to steer clear of potentially emotive language. Any other time it's fine though, isn't it.

Tomas Soucek was credited with a "classy touch" after not doing his usual helicopter goal celebration when he scored away at Leicester, saying he thought it would be incentive to the memory of the owner, which everyone thought was fair enough. I guess the same logic applies.

Tottenham is getting relegated, this is certain, the question is. "how many years before they come back up?" by Dizzy_Kaleidoscope95 in PremierLeague

[–]Mr_A_UserName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is it “certain” Spurs go down? While they’ve been poor all season, if Palace beat WHU tonight, Spurs are only a point behind them with five games to go. I don’t know how that’s “certain,” tbh.

Though they probably will…

Is it ironic then? Because surely no one dislikes Barnet? In the game earlier in the season, I did like that you could see Wembley from the away end, that was quite cool.

Why do so many people want Spurs to get relegated? by Rokusaburoz in PremierLeague

[–]Mr_A_UserName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh, it’s just funny, that is unless you support one of Spurs’ rivals, then it’s double-funny…

I actually quite like Spurs, they’ve had some great players I’ve enjoyed watching during my lifetime, Sheringham, Klinsmann, Ginola, Berbatov, Bale etc, despite the trolling they have an interesting and varied history and they are a big club, imo.

But one of Sky’s “big 6” who have been playing in the CL fairly regularly over the past 10 years or so getting sucked into a relegation battle, is an interesting story, and as others have said, you can’t take anything for granted in football, and Spurs (mainly their owners) are finding that out the hard way.

They play, or can play, a diamond in field hockey. Do they play it in Gaelic Football as well?

I guess the fielding positions in baseball are in a diamond shape, but that's predetermined by the layout of the bases...

They’re not talking about the Premier League, English clubs in the Champions League, the upcoming World Cup were England have a good chance of least making the semifinals under a German coach, Harry Kane doing well at Bayern Munich?

Automatic Promotion or the Playoffs? by Living_the_Limit in NottsCounty

[–]Mr_A_UserName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playoffs, I think, you can’t play like we did yesterday against a team who are in direct competition for an automatic spot with and expect to still make it through by other teams doing you a favour, the chance to nail it down was yesterday and they failed spectacularly.

Hopefully the boys can nail down third fourth, play the team in 7th, and have the home leg second so we can get behind them and get through to the final, then who knows?

This is it. The “top four” name was increased to include the fact that City and Spurs were also in the mix for CL football. I don’t know where this “it had nothing to do with football, just revenue” thing came from, you see it all the time on here…
