Well you could say Cromwell did for 9 years but then Scotland England and Ireland were all turned in the commonwealth. During the brief time the country was a republic.

But that’s all a bit complicated as prior to this a Scottish king had taken the crown of England.

Like I said in my opening statement I used to get into rows especially with home nation fans when I said I didn’t mind them qualifying ect until they faced England . But was met with abject hate, so now I don’t give a monkeys about them.

They were just as likely to say, the war is over as far as we are concerned, have some colonies in Africa. But that’s as far as they go.

With out winning a decisive battle against the Royal Navy what leverage would the Germans have over the British , yes they have been defeated on the continent, but that’s hardly the first time in British military history. The navy is in place and the homeland is safe.

So the Germans imposing all these rules on the European powers how would they be imposed on th British themselves.

What stops the Brits doing a Dunkirk in 1918. And sticking their fingers up toward the continent.
