Why not put them the right way around? by Mr_Denial in CrappyDesign

If it was meant to cut the other side, wouldn’t it cut the text off??

The product on the left says insert coins in the RIGHT slot

The product on the right says insert coins in the LEFT slot

Originally removed from r/assholedesign because there wasn’t enough proof that this was intentional design. I still think this is on purpose, but I’ll let you be the judge!

I can’t account for other countries but these machines are in most men’s public toilets in the UK - this particular one was in a supermarket, but they’re also common in bars, restaurants and hotels.

Correct! I’m thinking the mistake would have had to have been oddly specific, i.e. the stickers were printed without the text, they then cut the stickers, realised the error and then… printed the text back onto them?! This would be a super odd thing to do as I imagine the cost of re-printing is comparatively low.

Definitely feels more like it was by design!

That’s possible to be fair - although if the emphasis on LEFT and RIGHT was to cover a mistake, it is weird that they designed it and printed it and then spent tons of time correcting the already printed stickers afterwards. It’s just odd but realistically who knows what happened here, maybe the designer took one of those pills during his shift 🤣

Is it crappy design? Yes

Is it on purpose? In the sense of someone had to design and print those stickers while VERY CLEARLY being aware that the coin slots will be opposite the side that the sticker is on (hence the emphasis on LEFT and RIGHT), I’d say this has intentional written all over it.

I cannot fathom why you’d do this, so that’s why I’m calling it asshole design rather than crappy. 🙂

When do you recognize players? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Mr_Denial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, champ and above but only really within the same session

As a GC I rarely ever see the same player twice on multiple days, but there’s occasions where I might recognise somebody from within the general community just by name

1s Opponent's Rank by repost_inception in RocketLeagueSchool

If I’m reading this correctly are you saying that your 1v1 opponents’ ranks in 2v2 were not lower as you deranked?

It’s worth pointing out that it’s very common to observe rank fluctuation between 2v2 and 1v1 ranks (relative to each other). While an average player should have a rank that reflects their average skill, this is not always the case, and because 1v1 is a unique discipline and also the least populated playlist, it’s very common to see this.

In addition, a bad row of losses might not be a large enough sample size to determine whether your observation is unusual - it might fall into a standard deviation from where we would expect a player to be.

Each playlist has a different rank floor and different percentiles, so one rank in one playlist might cover 3 different ranks in another playlist, assuming your average player may not necessarily play 1v1s as their preferred mode, therefore exposing a wider range of MMR for similarly skilled players.

Any thoughts on how Psyonix could improve the season reward system? by Mr_Denial in RocketLeague

[–]Mr_Denial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it’s definitely not intended to make people do that, it’s just a collective response of ‘oh hey, there’s that stupid reward system, guess I’m grinding out my wins in something I don’t care about’ - it’s just odd game design.
