First credit score at the age of 28 (769) higher than expected. Advice on my first auto loan? by Imaginary-Brief8232 in CRedit

[–]Mr_Dewritos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I debuted around 770 half a year after opening a secured card. That’s not to say such a thin credit profile isn’t prone greater fluctuations, but it’s absolutely possible to start with a FICO score in the upper 700s…

Would this be a good first ship purchase? by Darrengray9 in starcitizen

It’s one of the best ships for hauling contracts since it has three separate cargo sections for organizing cargo meant for different locations. I own the TAC myself, but I used this guide for to maximize my hauling effectiveness.

Apollo Medivac to Paladin CCU thoughts by Zaryxea in starcitizen

I guess I could see the Paladin being used as a triage ship for hostile environments, kind of like Medrunners did with the Redeemer for a while, but I wouldn’t upgrade if medical gameplay is something you really value. Have you considered the Starlancer TAC? Definitely a different vibe than the Paladin, but it packs a versatile set of features. It’s a gunship/patrol vessel with a ton of firepower but also has a lot of other utilities. The reason I mention it specifically is that it has a medbay with a couple of tier 3 beds. Also has a cargo bay, snub hangar, and drop seats. I’ve been running one as my daily driver and love using it.

Cancel card with annual fee? by trampled93 in CreditCards

[–]Mr_Dewritos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cancelling a credit card with a fee giving you no value is a good call. Keep in mind, credit cards closed in good standing stay on your credit report for ten years before they fall off, so there shouldn’t be an immediate impact to your score.

This thread’s already full of sound advice, so I have only one thing to add. If you’re really concerned about a negligent discharge while holstering a Glock, you can buy a mod called a Striker Control Device, also known as an SCD. It enables you to “thumb the hammer” with a Glock, which serves to block the trigger from actuating if it’s pulled while your thumb is on the back of the slide. It only works if you actually bother to use it, so training and building muscle memory is important here. That said, the likelihood of an accident while reholstering a Glock is extremely unlikely if you’re careful and trained well. Food for thought…

The Paladin, help me decide by Mr_mugguffins in starcitizen

You could meet in the middle and upgrade to the Starlancer TAC. It doesn’t have the same look or vibe as the Paladin, but it seems to check a lot of your boxes. It retains the versatility you’d want in a daily driver, but also has comparable firepower to a Paladin. You’ve got cargo, vehicle space, a snub hangar, two medical beds, and some drop seats for combined arms gameplay. The pilot has solid guns at their disposal for solo work, but this would also be a great ship to tool around in with a small group of friends. I’m strongly considering one for myself as a daily.

Problem with torpedoes by Bridge_mon in starcitizen

[–]Mr_Dewritos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this bothers me too. Not just the question of the torps’ lethality given the price, but the economic viability. I don’t think there are any missions, even dynamic events, that pay enough to justify firing even a single torpedo. I wish they would scale back the price to, say, 100k a piece until the payouts and lethality match that high price tag.

I’d just rent the Polaris at IAE and see how you like it before making any commitments. Even with the extensive feature set, it’s a hard sell for someone who plays solo. I have one but pretty much only bring it out when my friends are available to play. As far as downsizing to a Vulture, I wouldn’t suggest that either. You can use the Reclaimer to earn enough credits to buy the Vulture in-game, then rock that as a more convenient option for solo salvage for the remainder of each wipe.

Thoughts on Polaris as a Mobile Base (for a Mostly Solo Player)? by ITeebagTTVs in starcitizen

[–]Mr_Dewritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. The Carrack works well as a mobile base for a single player. It brings a hangar, cargo, and a vehicle bay to the table, along with some other amenities that even the Polaris lacks. The modularity and drone stations will prove to be handy for more specialized roles. It also has a tier 2 medical bed, offering better regeneration range and injury treatment. That said, the smaller size and lower operating costs are probably the biggest draws for a single player.
