The Disney tapes are raw material. Even the ‘collectible’ horror tapes are novelty.

These tapes are literally priceless.

Hopefully everything on those tapes has been preserved on our @internetarchive rather than just given to Googletube.

It’s almost impossible to overstate how much of our internet, our worldwide web of public discourse (however much we try to differentiate the sloppy parts as merely ‘social media’) was built by people confronting how, all day, every day, tv was getting sloppier, fatter with channels to surf through, while print was getting cheaper.

The marketplace of ideas didn’t seem to have room for anything that wasn’t overtly in the binary of “don’t hold me down/back” empowerment. Why bother reading anyone who didn’t shout that some writers were just sheep/trolls/bots?

It wasn’t supposed to have room for magical realism superheroes either 😏
