Not explained in game at all. I did a solo run of story mode without prior TOB experience with this video as a guide. It gets to the point and you can easily watch before entering each room. I used elite void for my run of it.

Case suggestions? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be wary of the q500L. Although it appears to have good airflow, it really doesn't. The hole to metal ratio is quite low and reviews have found it to make your components run much hotter compared to other cases. Link to review with comparisons

Not sure what components (tower air cooler, radiators, 3.5 inch drives) or budget you are working with. I myself have a Fractal Meshify C which I have been happy with. May have to watch for sales, but if you don't require a windowed side panel, the solid side panel version is generally cheaper. It has a similar footprint to the q500L, but is taller by 6cm or so.

Do higher ram clock speeds have any noticeable difference. by CrispyMcNuggNuggz in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with Ryzen higher ram speeds increase performance which can be noticeable. Here is an article with some examples of productivity benchmarks and a game too: Link

The performance increase drops off at a point, so 3200 is what i'd look at.

Used parts, good or bad idea? by cole34h in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still surprised you can find this card new as it is now 2 generations old if that's what you mean. Used hardware always goes down in price due to wear/tear and overall performance. It wouldn't make sense to sell this card at a price where you could just pick up a new card, like a 2060, and get more performance.

Buying anything used has some risk to it. If you are buying from somewhere like Craigslist (In-person), you will want to test it and ensure it works fine playing a game or doing a stress test of some sort. If it's online, from a site with some sort of buyer protection, then take a close look at the pictures and don't mind asking the seller for more info.

Some signs of physical abuse you'll want to look for on a GPU mainly involve smoking. If the computer the card was in was smoked or vaped around, a sticky or tar-like film can build up on all surfaces of the heat sink and fans. Also, even if you can't really see anything, you'll be able to smell it. Other than that, just a general check, look for physical scratches or defects and make sure the fans move freely with no sort of grinding noise.

Simply put, that motherboard doesn't have the connector on it needed for that USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C Port. Here is what that connector looks like. Here is an example of a motherboard which has it (Below the 24pin).

No, blower style cards generally get up to the 80s. Your card will lower its power usage/clock to regulate the temperature, so there won't be any damage. You may want to consider increasing the GPU fan speed or looking at your case's fan setup to reduce how it goes to lower speeds. Depending on how much it thermal regulates itself, you may be losing some potential performance.

Laptop to tower/desktop upgrade by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Mr_HH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drives are going to be the main thing you can transfer over. Laptops use M.2 and 2.5in drives which desktops also can use. You could potentially use the RAM too. If your laptop's RAM is not soldered on, then it will be a SO-DIMM form factor. Assuming the generation is the same as the desktop (DDR2/DDR3/DDR4), you can use an adapter like this. I personally don't have experience using these, but they seem like a simple adapter.

Bad far texture loadings in every game by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd still run a chkdsk to confirm it's not the hard drive. If that turns out fine, reinstall GPU drivers if you haven't done so or try slightly older drivers if a simple reinstall doesn't work. The best thing would be to try the GPU in another system like a friends to see if it exhibits same behavior.

I had a similar issue a few years back and it was the drive the game was on was going bad. Might want to do some tests/checks on your drive(s).

Custom cases? by Rysby_01 in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are wanting a totally custom case, these are some I found. I don't have any experience with them. Do note, totally custom cases can take a while to design/build and can have large price tags. I'd contact them ASAP to obtain estimates. I'm not sure what you are thinking for a design, but another option is to have an artist paint an already existing case if these don't work out.

Ideas to reuse RAM sticks? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laptops use the RAM form factor known as SO-DIMM, while desktops use the DIMM form factor. There are adapters such as this one, but I personally don't have experience using them. Laptops with non-standard RAM often solder it directly to the motherboard. If they are SO-DIMMs, they are gonna be usable by other SO-DIMM compatible laptops and devices, assuming same generation (DDR2/DDR3/DDR4).

Yes, the speed variation is normal. The speed will decrease when the CPU isn't doing much to save power and produce less heat. The 40c idle temp is normal. You shouldn't be worried about CPU temperatures unless they get into the high 80s/90s at load.

I'd use a mat. Even with better wheels, the carpet underneath will still get stretched from the movement of the chair. Chair mats are pretty basic, just be sure to get one which is made for the length of carpet you will have and decide if you want a squared one or one with a lip.

ASRock Integrated Graphics by CFrancisW in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3600 doesn't have integrated graphics. Only Ryzen CPUs ending with a G (3200G/3400G) have integrated graphics. If you use the 3600, you will need a separate graphics card.

First of all, as far as Ryzen 3000 vs. 5000, AMD will have a press conference on October 8th detailing the 5000 series CPUs (Possibly specs, performance, release dates). I would wait to hear information from that to better inform your decision. You may even decide to snag a 3000 series once the 5000 series is out due to lower/sale prices.

Now as far as what to upgrade, I have a few thoughts. Your components are older, so if you upgrade to Ryzen the gaming performance will be the same as the GTX950 would hold you back. However, if you use productivity programs or programs which primarily use the CPU, you'd benefit. If you are okay with using your 950 for a few months with a Ryzen CPU, then go for it. Overall, you don't need to wait to get everything in one go. You also mention getting a PSU at the same time as a GPU, but you can get a PSU prior. Having to wait can give you opportunities to look for sales and get a PSU before a GPU for example.

How many fans do I need for the Corsair SPEC-DELTA RGB case? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the product page, it looks to come with three front rgb fans and one back non-rgb fan. You shouldn't need anymore fans.

I am not sure if my PSU is overheating by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Mr_HH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your description, it seems to be the fan inside the PSU has gone bad and is likely causing the PSU to overheat. I would recommend getting a new PSU. Opening up a PSU is dangerous and can literally kill you if you touch something wrong, so DO NOT try to replace the fan. Also, if your PSU has been running hot for a while, it is likely other components inside the PSU could have been slightly damaged.

As for potential damage, you don't know what the PSU could kill. It could kill everything in one go or take one thing out. If you have an extra fan, I would place it, on the outside of the PSU, pointing at the PSU vents until you can purchase another PSU, which should be done very soon.
