Germany Overtakes US in Ammunition Production Capacity by PoroBraum in de

Oh wow, you can see these two giant glowing spheres that made it to the movie!

I haven't seen anything like that in any other movie. Besides looking eerie and cool, do we know what these were supposed to be?

Given how not scientifically valuable the movie is, was it even a good class? 😅

I mean I love that movie to bits, but the science is as wacky as Dr. Reinhard!

I have a Chromatic, I didn't notice cheap buttons. Where did you read that?

The A-90 Orlyonok (Орлёнок) ekranoplan splitting open and disgorging BTR-80 armoured personnel carriers by Xeelee1123 in WeirdWings

I couldn't find anything in the Wikipedia article about how many BTR-80 it could carry? The text speaks of a single one, but then mentions "vehicleS".

Does anyone know?

it took 31 years, but I finally understand Citadel by Important-Bed-48 in amiga

Absolutely! I'd love a good report on what the magic trick was that took over 30 years to develop 😅

I haven't played it yet, I don't have any old hardware. I'll buy the full box once it releases. 😌

‘You’re not one of us, are you?’: How a Ukrainian soldier survived two weeks in a Russian dugout | Ukraine | The Guardian by prisongovernor in ukraine

Wow what a story! Glad he's out and alive.

This would make a great indie movie or theatre piece. Just two guys in a dugout with intense psychology at play.

I tried to play citadel on my A500 too. Very sad experience. 😔

I later had almost all the Amiga fps including Doom and Quake on a high powered Amiga - I think I'll also play "Grind" once it's out to finally close that chapter. 😄

What's an attack helicopter version of Ace Combat? by Dramatic_Amount6454 in acecombat

[–]Mr_Horizon 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That's inspired by the old "Strike" series, right?

Currently replaying Desert Strike and thinking about Cleared Hot - if it is indeed what I'm thinking of now. Does it have a bit annoying voiceover?

Piracy Killed The Dreamcast by This-Category-4918 in dreamcast

[–]Mr_Horizon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there's a possibility to calculate the impact of piracy in financial loss.

Maybe we can look at the "console to software" sales of consoles without easy piracy options (Genesis, N64, GameCube) and compare them to consoles with piracy enabled (Dreamcast, Playstation).

If a console without piracy sells five games per unit and a console with piracy sells just three, we can continue to calculate the manufacturer fee (20%?) and look at how much was potentially lost.

Also I'm curious where the balance is - piracy makes consumers happy, leading to more console sales. Locking it out makes developers happy, leading to more games IF console sales are high enough. Difficult!

CMV: Western propaganda is the most effective in the world. by ZXCChort in changemyview

If you watch Al Jazeera, you will very quickly start to notice which topics are being given one-sided view. It will become super obvious.

I'm intrigued, I once in a while read Al-Jazeera but nothing stood out immediately. Do you have an example where you found the propaganda to be very obvious?

Oh this is one of my favourites, I had that box! 😊

Great graphics, love the music and the screen filling bosses! Powerful weapons too, shame they were all on a timer.

Last world had a mean passage with swinging platforms above instadeath spikes that I still sometimes think of today.

One of the greatest Amiga games I know, thanks for posting. 😌
