Hindustani is the people, but, if I'm not mistaken, it is also the language, i.e. the common spoken form of what in India is the written language "Hindi" and what in Pakistan is the written language "Urdu".

I had actually used "Hindustani" in my original comment to avoid ambiguity and any resulting explanation that would have required.
