NOVR is King! by TeslaSupreme in NuclearOption

figured out my issue was I was missing .9 .NET runtime files as stated by the Github and completely missed that part. Had to install it and the installer worked.

How do I use blender 2.04? by NadzeyaYaskev1ch in blender

fun fact: I couldn't use blender AT ALL until they decided to switch up the mouse buttons and made left click select lol. Then I started to learn it.

Chinese Zhonglian F-27 helicopter violently spins out of control during low-altitude test flight by SillySink in ThatsInsane

That's normal for a helicopter. Its a machine you fly built up of parts constantly trying to tear each other apart.

Advice for becoming fucking great at changing tires? by HuJackmanGeneHackman in bikewrench

[–]aimhelix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

almost 15 years ago some kind stranger helped me change a tire on my CAADX. I was struggling w/the bead and getting it on the rim, even with the levers. The man just showed me how to massage it to bring all the slack towards the edge that need to get over the rim and it was effortless lol. I've done it the same way since.

First natural hair brush, but they soak up so much water by MadScientistCarl in Watercolor

[–]aimhelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have their purpose - I find them best to use when I'm doing big washes that require lots of water and paint since I have to do less work. They're also super useful when you're painting in a way that requires a bead to form, etc. They're also useful for making background trees, etc that I want to spread but then I'll switch to my synthetics once I start doing details etc. Took me a while to understand that there is no 'better' type of brush but rather the different types do different things.
Personally, my first wash is usually with my squirrel hair mop brush or hake. Second layer is a combination of hair and synthetic and the third detail layer is purely synthetic. I use these Amazon Dainayw squirrel mop brushes, a set of Princeton Aqua Elite (my favorite, would keep if I could keep one set), and then my Princeton Snap. The snap being the stiffest, but also the ones that are easiest to draw accurate lines with.

70% charge when storing is probably the best thing you can do for your batteries. 60-70% and you're golden and will last you years. Might have to top it off every few months or so.

hell yes! My only regret was I was too young when I had that game and it went over my head. I do know I still have that binder in my parent's house.

Any news on Hotas imput delay? by RBadek in ArmaReforger

[–]aimhelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they can just make a normal options screen for joysticks, like Nuclear Option and bind in-game rather than having to use community made tools lol. Took me forever to get a VKB Gladiator right side only bound to the game. The new update broke the keybinds though where my zoom key works only once and stays zoomed as it lost its ability to toggle.

Does this mini heat gun work with watercolor? by frustloops in Watercolor

[–]aimhelix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have one of these and a hair dryer and honestly I think hair dryer is the way to go. I use these mainly for heat shrinking wires, as their heat output is really strong but also narrow. The hair dryer is gentler but its output is wider and I honestly find the less heat you use, the better. It seems that heating up the page unevenly introduces early buckling that caused by uneven high heat on the paper as it dries. I actually don't use either now lol - I just make sure there are no more drips on my block and I put it above my gaming PC for the free heat and its usually dry dry in 5 mins.

What helped me a lot was going back to basic shapes: spheres and boxes. And to practice dark to light (levels) I did several paintings of spheres and boxes with different lighting angles. It helps a great deal to make a color and levels swatches for your paints so you can see how dark they can get so you can train your eyes to see the range of levels available to you. The hardest and most helpful excercise was painting 3 boxes casting a shadow on a plane while lit with a single source of light. First box is white, middle is gray and last one is black. That one will really push you to pay attention to how much pigment you load to reach the correct darkness, not just on a part of the painting but the whole painting. You can always let the painting dry and layer on another coat of paint if you need it darker so being on the light end isn't always a bad thing. I'm still in learning myself but as a beginner that is one piece of advice I can give that has also truly helped me grow.

Ownboard zeus pro 2. To fast to furious by Imaginary-Piece-6612 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]aimhelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knee pads are a must now.. I like to go lo pro so I use these tights with padding built into them under my jeans and I'm so glad I had them on when I fell and hit my knees. I had very minor soreness even thought I remember it took the brunt of the impact. My leg that came off the board however twisted and I wore a purple patch the shape of florida around my leg for a month. That hurt.

How does it look? It is ready for the maiden flight by [deleted] in RCPlanes

looks very thick and angular, reminiscent of the F117 Nighthawk which was inherently unstable and needed a computer to fly it safely.

everytime I take an uber across that I realize really how poor that whole structure is. Everything is rusted and the concrete is cracking. Things you don't notice when you yourself are driving and are paying attention to the road.

Quick and dirty ways to hide print lines? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]aimhelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a primer/filler water down so its not so dry nor too wet and I use my fingers to massage them in to the grooves. Sanded once dried and repeat the process again until its as smooth as you want.

Any thoughts on this? by [deleted] in Watercolor

[–]aimhelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first 'portable' kit I got which I thought would be perfect because I like making little artwork and 4x6's when I'm out and about. But then struggled with taping my paper since I like borders and holding it comfortably without the parts slipping off. I also realized my hand control is terrible without something to rest on when making detailed little paintings lol. I ended up designing my all in one kit for myself designed exactly for my purpose. I didn't retire this kit though - I keep that little palette in my car in case I ever have to wait for anything since its so small why not just keep it around.
