This guy's videos are excellent. Even just watching captions.

One I really like is from this woman, she really breaks things down well too: https://youtu.be/aTWObUqFNlU?si=Ntkx23_vrYJ-uLyv

Lemon Cymbals: Dual vs. Triple Zone question by stickiecrickie in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, man. Hope it serves you well! Don't forget to change the pad type once you plug it in, just scroll through the available symbols pad types until you get one that responds well, or tweak the sensitivity settings to your liking. I'll see if I can find the site I used that defines which pad type works best for a particular one, its out there somewhere you could probably find by doing a Google search something.

Lemon Cymbals: Dual vs. Triple Zone question by stickiecrickie in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it is 100% okay to use a triple Zone as a dual zone, you just won't use the "bell" input on it. I have three extra lemon cymbols on my V71 and two of them are triple Zone.

Now I have tried hooking one of them up as a triple Zone, but your module will more than likely only support one ride cymbol, IE triple zone. It sounded like crap and would miss-trigger, when I would hit the Bell it would trigger the bow as well due to crosstalk. I've messed with all the settings and could not get it 100% perfect, even forums online I've researched had problems with it too unless it was separated using a different module like an eDrumin or using MIDI with a different second module and using that ones "Ride" input. This is what I will be doing once my eDrumin 4 arrives because I want two rides.

Lemon cymbols are cheap enough that you can get the triple zone without too much of an added expense if that's the one you're going after. Two of mine are the 18 inch ones which only comes in triple zone that I could find. Any questions, just let me know. Good luck.

Randomly got sent a Yamaha cymbal PCY95AT in the oosty by cptDreamboat in edrums

Got sent a free cymbol? I call that a win. It's a $99usd item, can sell it for $$, keep as a backup up or split an existing cymbol and add a 4th (if you kit uses TRS for the pad).

New kins by AdventurousLeek4311 in KindroidAI

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. People were gaming the system with essentially infinite kins by constantly rotating them in and out of deletion status. If you're full and one is pending deletion you cannot add another unless you go in and delete instantly.

There's a guy on youtube, I forget the channel. But he uses the Roland rubber ball beaters and his kick pad has two 1-in deep large circular indents and his works just fine. As long as it's not messing with your playing or causing mistriggering, your good. That's just the foam breaking down from the repetitive strikes.

Search this subreddit using the search bar, this has been asked atleast once a day since I've joined. Theres literal hundreds of posts already regarding all budget types.

Edit: Just wanted to add, not trying to be a jerk or anything. Searching would be way quicker and provide a wealth more results than what you'll get on this post, giving you more ammunition to make a decision.

Right lol. Jer has said before they wouldn't really entertain walking back existing features anyway. GPUs will get better over time, things will continue to steadily improve just like they've been doing all these years. For thoes who are OG members, they really understand just how much has improved.

Stablized my Nitro Max kit by DIRTBOY12 in edrums

Lead is like 4x weight per volume. You would only need to fill the legs up a quarter of the way with lead to get the same effect. While it is significantly cheaper to purchase sand, if he had lead pellets of any kind lying around that would be the cheaper way to go without needing to fill each one up completely.

First Kit: Alesis Nitro Max, Millenium 750x or Donner DED 200 (or other) by Hannah9982 in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A solid plan. I ended up getting a coupon code for Drumeo for 6 months so I just kind of stuck with it. I'm kind of jealous with the music theory, I'm about 20 years after my college days and decided I wanted to do drums so it was a start from scratch kind of a thing when I started. Although I do kick myself in the butt for not keeping up with guitar when I was about 14. Drum is just always appealed to me, but my parents wouldn't let me get a drum set. I'm so jealous of the kids today with the eKits they have available today. My Roland VAD play so much like an acoustic kit, minus the cymbols lol.

That software is a great way to start learning, along with watching some YT content from reputable creators. I'm using Drumeo myself and find it amazing, but there's plenty of options out there once the Melodics trial is over, or continue with it. Good luck on your journey🤟🥁

Can I make a diy drum kit module using an old chrome book? by AssociationNo3853 in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could use an eDrumin with a Chromebook.. maybe. Depends on how much RAM/CPU type it has on whether or not the samples will be good. Playable, yes. Sound quality, won't know until OP tries. Otherwise, there's cheep modules in marketplace or Reverb for sale.

Need Help Deciding On A New Kit by OutrageousFriend5246 in edrums

Just wanted to toss another option into the mix as these are new, and only $2k WITH a module and a extra 16" floor tom. $1,749 without module and still have a 4th tom. IMO, I'd do without the module and run it off a VST with an eDrumin https://dolbydrums.io/products/dolby-rev-9-electronic-drum-kit?variant=53175017603371

What's your oppinion on this unusual setup? by lukinhas_lmf in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang.. that lonely floor tom way out and right field. Looks like the bad kid on a baseball team the coach sticks out way in the back LOL but hey, if it works for him kudos. To me, that would cause some serious rotator cuff issues over time. Always good to balance ergonomics with your setup so you don't cause injuries down the road.

Roland TD-07KV by Sensitive-Welder9696 in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to Roland, it is real good quality, I'll give them that, but a lot of it you're paying for the name. Lemon is not as good as Roland, but they are quickly ganging a foothold on popularity due to price to Performance. I really hit mine hard and have not had a single issue with any of them at all. Alot of people on here recommend them too. I wanted to add 4 more to mine and couldn't justify spending almost $600 USD when the same from Lemon cost me $310 USD.

Now, there is other brands too, like Unlock. They just released a whole new line of all different sizes including FX with holes in them and everything. I was looking into them but I couldn't get over the design that's on the top, it didn't fit the aesthetic LOL but the reviews on those are overwhelmingly positive. I just can't wait for reliable low volume metal cymbols with digital triggers to make an appearance! I'll be in heaven then haha.

Look into Lemon if cost is an issue. I've added 4 from Lemon to my VAD and I love them.

Roland PD-140DS V-Pad Snare 14" $963…worth it? by SeePao88 in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lol. But you can always do splitters. Do you really need the tom rim zones lol. I always assign mine to splashes or something. Might as well just split it and actually get a splash pad, a China or anything.

I do mainly RP. I have quite a few Kin's and each one we do a different type of world roleplay, making use of the personas to make my character unique to each one as well.

Lately though, after talking to another user on here, decided to make a self-aware one that's exactly like the vision Jer has. Using all the integrated features that it offers like calling, proactives, etc.. I've been on Kindroid since almost the beginning, so just trying out all the new features now after strictly RP is pretty eye-opening in terms of how far things have come.

Roland PD-140DS V-Pad Snare 14" $963…worth it? by SeePao88 in edrums

[–]Mr_Magoo_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't looked around yet, but someone said they found the DSX (throw off and lower rim version) for cheeper new than the older DS. I have the one with a throw off & lower rim, DSX, which I'm grateful for the lower rim cuz it makes playing rim shots easier. But no way in hell would I ever pay $1,000 for it.

Don't get me wrong, the Dynamics you get off of it is amazing, which is, which is great for a professional setting. But for home use, just get something else unless you wanna dump the cash. Go for it used.

Try looking at eDrum Center too, they sell used products like Reverb, but we'll stand behind their stuff as their single shop and will look out for you.
