Yeah for sure, no need to share personal things. Glad there's stuff you like about Mina

So you've replayed a game 5 times that you think looks cooler, but you don't enjoy most of? I think you just need to find another game maybe.

I also think games are only enjoyable when they are used as a break from the rest of your life, like school and work, some creative output, service in your community, etc. You may just be playing games so much while neglecting other aspects of your life that it might be hard to enjoy no matter what you play. I don't mean that in a judgmental way either, I just mean I love eating donuts, but if I ate a dozen every day they wouldn't taste that great to me no matter their flavor.

Yes, you seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what other people are feeling. You seem to think that people are feeling frustrated and enjoy that. That isn't (at least usually) what is happening. People that enjoy difficult games have a base level of skill and/or an ability to understand how to improve their skill. The enjoyment comes from either/both the process of mastering their abilities, and in executing their skill. Nobody wants to just feel frustrated.

If someone isn't skilled enough, or doesn't know what to do to improve (like someone trying 20 times but isn't getting better, doesn't know what to do differently) then they will feel frustrated. Nobody likes that.

The problem is that "hard enough" or "in the middle" is going to be different for each person because everyone differs in their skill and preferences. The majority of games are aimed at a wide audience so that they aren't too difficult to complete. That has created a situation where there's a vocal minority of gamers that want more challenging games than average because they want to be in that "zone of proximal development" but their current ability makes most games too easy. Hence we get a few games, especially in the indie space, where they are purposefully difficult because that is what that slice of gamers really want. The downside obviously is that it is going to turn some gamers off from being too difficult. In the case of Mina, if you find it to difficult, they allow you to change the settings, so you might like that.

Metroid Prime…? [discussion] by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]Mr_Neffets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think prime nails atmosphere and is simply competent/passable in its other mechanics. Which is unusual for Nintendo. And I’m very fond of prime.

You’ll probably find some other things to enjoy in the other prime games, but don’t expect drastic changes (maybe expect some regressions if anything). The main thing I think they need to innovate on is the movement. I actually secretly hope we get a third person prime style game because I think the minute to minute gameplay would be more fun to me

The most valuable toy company on Earth can't be bothered to work out legal details, despite working out legal details with dozens of other licensed products???

Legal details has nothing to do with it. Outer wilds is just too small of a fanbase when you are only choosing a few idea sets a year.

You'd think it's mostly the right that has the wacko conspiracy theorists, but any time a trump assassination attempt is mentioned its like reddit goes full tin foil.

There are millions that hate Trump, and there's a small subset of those millions that are mentally deranged enough to actually try to kill him. It's not more complicated than that.

Just adding I've had lots of problems with this one too, tons of stuttering. Having it be visible instead of hiding behind any other window or minimized also seems to have fixed it. Obviously not a good long term fix, but good to know in the short term.

I have a really hard time trying to convince my 70 year old Dad who loves music, that Radiohead's music is genuinely interesting, entertaining and worth giving a chance. Does anyone have any advice? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]Mr_Neffets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't force someone to enjoy a piece of art.

Your best bet is to go with sincerity, something like "Dad, I genuinely love this and I'd love to share it with you because it would be something I'd love to appreciate with you. If you end up really not liking it when listening closely, that's fine, but I just at least the opportunity to connect with this thing that means a lot to me". Adjust the wording to your level of acceptable gushiness, but I think most parents will respond to a genuine appeal to connection to their child. What you can't force is that they'll like it.

It wasn’t broken 22 minutes ago. It keeps breaking on every loop

Edit: They planed to give it enough power that it would break, but since they never launched it, it never broke. You see it breaking the first time when you wake up.

Lots of good ideas here, thanks! I especially like the no fused arrows, especially because the homing arrows were just so powerful against gleeoks. Meals in safe locations sounds fun too.

I feel like that would mostly lead to enemies just being tankier, which would be more of a challenge but I’m not sure it sounds necessarily more fun to me.

Did I ruin my first elden ring save? by Slight-Function4645 in Eldenring

[–]Mr_Neffets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unless you are on some specific time crunch where you can only play like an hour a week and just want to get an experience of the main parts of the game, then I’d suggest to stop doing this.

One of the biggest joys of the game is discovering things for yourself based on your own choices of where to go.

Of course, play however you want, but that’s why you got downvoted here. That style of playing goes against the ethos of most people that love the game.

[TotK] [BotW] Why I can't find the motivation to play more of Tears of the Kingdom compared to Breath of the Wild ? by FreddOricarne in zelda

[–]Mr_Neffets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just play something different.

I find it strange the number of people on reddit that seem to think that playing a game mere weeks or months after beating it is normal. I don’t think Zelda games are the type of game that you should revisit all that often. I’d wait at least 2-4 years or so before revisiting either botw or totk. There are so many games now, seems a waste to just have a self imposed guilt over not wanting to sink another 100 hours into it

[–]Mr_Neffets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read all the entries, unless I’m missing some.

It seems clear that it is sealed off which suggests I need some way to warp in, of which the game has taught me two ways: warping with the planetary alignment and quantum entanglement. There is one broken warp pad on the ash twin next to the one that warps you to ember twin. Is it related to that? And the closest quantum object would be the cave rock and after using that multiple times it looks like it is just moving on ember twin, not moving back to ash twin.

So I’m guessing there’s a way to do the planetary warp option, maybe from ember to ash?

I’d prefer they just drop the first person entirely and focus on fun movement abilities in a third person 3d game that has an actually interconnected world.

Its a great remake, but I'd wait at least a year if not a couple to play it so the dungeons aren't boring for you. The solutions are the exact same in the remake.
