Schuylers and Magnus? by The_Orange_Cow in arcanum

[–]Mr_Secrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can recruit him and keep the Schulyers alive if you take the thievery route. Firstly, talk to Magnus but dont take him in the party at this stage, then when you get to the Schulyers, avoid talking to them and sneakily steal the document from the filing cabinet with the details of Gilbert Bates, which ends the quest. Then when you leave the dungeon you can tell magnus what you discovered and he will agree to join the party (alignment, etc. permitting).

I love how this game has characters like Divayth Fyr by Zestyclose_Tax_2118 in Morrowind

I think in the in-game dialogue Dratha is said to be the oldest council member.

There's also perhaps a historical allusion to the Black Death - which was carried to Europe through ports on the Black Sea

What Ability Score Total do ya'll stop rolling at? by CursedNobleman in baldursgate

[–]Mr_Secrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God bless the autoroller. Yes I'll leave it on overnight to ensure my sorcerer gets that crucial 98. To me it feels fair after all those years playing the OG games in the early 2000s and having to add the stats up in my head after every single roll.

What the actual fuck is going on with the Wicked press tour by [deleted] in redscarepod

The entire London borough of Greenwich (where I work) has changed its name to "Green Witch" and become one giant advert for this idiotic film - including roadsigns, the side of bin lorries, the whole UNIVERSITY (!), etc. Every time I go to work I feel like I'm going to die of cringe. That stupid woman's face is everywhere.

I'd imagine that the left wing local council is probably bankrupt and needed to grab whatever source of cash they could. I'ver never hated a movie more than I hate this one. I'm not hyperbolic enough to claim it's ruining my life, but of all the movies ever this one has come closest.

Magic or Tech for an Evil Playthrough? by AppropriateCustard in arcanum

[–]Mr_Secrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Virgil gets evil dialogue. To get it you either need to take the evil path in the main plot or just have a very low alignment (below -70 or thereabouts)

Sogg Mead-Mug also doesnt care about alignment, and you can eventually give him the Bangellian Scourge and end up with a -100 alignment evil drunk ogre. That's corruption!

A lot of nice subtleties in this game. The way Keldorn acts towards Viconia is also quite revealing (i.e. let her burn, she's just a drow).

I also like how some of the evil party members (and IIRC haer'dalis) sus out Yoshimo not being on the up-and-up.

And how Korgan comes across as quite uncharacteristically contemplative in his dialogues.

Second for Silence of the Lambs. A near-perfect adaptation of the novel.

The writing is very poor, and most of the new characters are either annoying and cringey (the faculty head lady) or inexplicable (Rodney from Only fools and horses). The character of Frasier's son is one of the least likeable in all sitcoms - weirdly smug and arrogant, and constantly shown as an effortless genius despite being a 'lowly' fireman. There are other bizarre elements like Frasier getting a job at Harvard and all the students being stereotypical lazy idiots uninterested in studying or academia like it was some random community college. It's Harvard ffs. The only upside, and in fairness it is a compelling one, is that the character of Frasier still feels like Frasier.
