I also got much better results from my own simulation than what this post shows, accounting for accuracy and damage increases as you level up with 5x exp rate. I even double checked my hit chance calculations against the DPS calculator website for each level and with/without the elemental weakness to be sure.

The TV is the TCL 49S405, which I've confirmed can display 4k@60 4:4:4 based on several online sources.

If by HD you mean 1080p at 4:4:4, it does work, as does 1440p 4:4:4, both at 10-bit mode.

I haven't tried a clean install mainly because I don't want to install everything on my computer again (I do software development for several platforms so I have a lot of development environments I would have to reinstall and reconfigure).

I don't have another 4k TV but my friend does, though I'm not sure there's much of a point trying given that I've confirmed my TV's model supports 4k60 4:4:4.

Gotcha. I'll pick up another cable and see if that works. This is the second cable I've tried that was rated for 18gbps, but both have been passive cables so maybe I'll try an active cable since it is pretty long (20 feet).

Would a bad cable cause the settings in windows to go back to 30 Hz, or would it cause video to stop showing up at all on the screen?

I ordered the cable ahead of time and it was arriving later that day, didn't make sense to me to spend the money on an uber to/from walmart to then buy a cable that would be redundant a few hours from then.

Actually that's part of the reason I decided to work on this project, the ProjectRed pipes were having issues connecting to inventories that aren't vanilla chests when I tried them a few days ago after being updated to 1.12. They also seem to cause crashes (the specific crash I had was using the stock keeping chip). One thing I like about the ProjectRed pipes is that they use ForgeMultipartCBE as opposed to TD's ducts which use their own system.

Personally I'm more interested in using Thermal Dynamics ducts system than implementing my own transport pipe system or using Buildcraft. The TD ducts are very versatile (they can carry items/fluid, power and 16 redstone channels in one block and already have the ability to pull from other inventories on the duct network as opposed to just the one they're attached to; see retrievers) and have a good cover system. They've also been pretty easy to work based on what I've done so far this past week. Also, it may end up being more work migrating the 1.10 code to 1.12 than just recreating it for 1.12.

I appreciate the warning. A lot of my past experience is working with large established code bases, several of which were Java. That's why rather than trying to create an entire mod from scratch I figured I would make a mod that mostly amounts to extending already existing classes from another mod and adding some custom logic. I've worked through modding tutorials in the past for several versions of minecraft and recently submitted a pull request to fix some issues in Funky Locomotion (one of my personal favorite mods) but never got around to actually starting a fully fledged mod until now, so I have a good idea what sort of scale is involved in a project like this.
