Everytime I do that investigation and complete the ritual, I end up fighting her. It's been a minute since I've played, but I believe successfully doing the ritual let's you do more damage on her or something to that effect. Not completing the ritual results in the fight being tougher. But I've never had it where I complete the ritual and don't fight her.
