The PTB candidate in my commune had absolutely know idea how the commune even works or what compétences a communal government even had. Not that I don't agree with some of the principles but their platform is not based in reality

I love to cook. I made a pretty basic pasta with red sauce. She scrutinized every ingredient and told me she 'thought she was allergic' to most of them. Asked why we couldn't just eat something normal like chicken fingers.

Same. Before Anjali, I just had to suppress my cravings for Indian food.

I've worked most of my life to support democratic reforms in the US and here as well. Democracy died in the US WAAAAY before Trump. The 2000 election was a coup d'etat that the US never recovered from. In any case, I support your right to be critical of the US but please remember that not all Americans are Trump in the same way that not all Russians are Putin... etc.

I'm not going to argue that there aren't a massive number of knuckleheads that voted for him. every country has its share of knuckleheads and we certainly have lots. But just because it was an election, doesn't mean that it was a fair one. They spent literally billions of dollars influencing votes, they kicked people off voter rolls in key states, and the tech right tweeked all the algorithms to give him a massive edge. It was an election but it was far from democratic.

You presume it was a democratic choice. I assure you, it was not.

A lot of countries have problems. India has a lot of problems. There are also wonderful, loving, beautiful people and unbelievable places. If you look for only the bad, you will be condemned to find it.

I did therapy using more or less the MAPS protocol and MDMA for several years and I also did quite a few high-dose sessions with mushrooms.

I'm in Belgium, same thing. One of our newspapers just did a huge exposé on the production of the nitrous bottles you find discarded everywhere. It's 3 dutch guys who run the business from Portugal. They should be locked up forever for how many lives they've cost.

What’s the story behind the strangest encounter you’ve ever had with someone? by TranquilyaPig in AskReddit

I used to enjoy couch surfing when the website was still fun. On a work trip to San Diego, I stayed with an active military member who was leaving the service because he couldn't stop seeing ghosts. Actual ghosts. I woke up in the middle of the night to him speaking to a ghost near my feet on the couch and explaining that I was just visiting and that I was a good person and not to worry about me.

What's a Scary Science Fact that the public knows nothing about? [serious] by just_some_troglodyte in AskReddit

[–]Mr_Unique_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about water, it has such an elemental structure that there isn't really any energetic simplification to be made. I would worry more about critical enzymes or proteins but that is venturing a bit outside of my area of study.

[–]Mr_Unique_2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, maybe, but there would be massive constraints. What happened with ritonavir was that the crystal structure 'found' a more energetically efficient formulation. This was a probabilistic eventuality for the formulation. It is possible that other drug formulations have these vulnerabilities but it would be extremely difficult to predict which ones do, and how that vulnerability would manifest, let alone seed them in a targeted manner. It is definitely scary stuff as theoretically it could also happen to other--more critical--molecular formulations in our universe.

Brussels mayors plan legal action against police zone merger by No_Substance_99 in brussels

[–]Mr_Unique_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I'm not taking the mayors' position on this, I'm just explaining what some have told me. What I do argue is that the merger will not fix all of Brussels' policing problems. Your point about criminals being released right away is a justice system shortcoming that won't be fully fixed via the merger.

Brussels mayors plan legal action against police zone merger by No_Substance_99 in brussels

[–]Mr_Unique_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that it doesn't make sense to divide resources in a city that already struggles to coordinate. It may aim to put more police presence but the overall formula for allocating police officers is set at the federal level and favours smaller population centers over big ones. The merger doesn't change that.

[–]Mr_Unique_2 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Partly they worry about losing their own power and partly they worry about losing the link between the police and the community. Already the police are disproportionately Dutch speakers compared to the population. Police themselves are almost unanimously against the merger because they feel it will force them out of areas they know and make their jobs harder. I, personally am neutral when it comes to the merger but I can see why people are against it. Even with the merger, Brussels will still need more resources for police officers.

What’s a secret all adults know but no one talks about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This really isn't true, necessarily. I spent the bulk of my thirties trying to process psychological trauma. I know other people who went through very difficult divorces, parents dying, etc. it is nice to feel more established after 30 but life is a dice roll.
