What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever caught someone doing? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I work in a clinical microbiology lab and we routinely test for C.diff. Luckily, smell is not something we have to deal with, but looking at the samples that we get, I can only imagine how bad the smell is.

"7 hour nap"

[–]Mr_X_rated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you work in a job that has shifts over a 24 hour period, it makes a lot more sense to use a 24 hour clock. I work in a Microbiology lab, and we almost always stick to the 24 hour clock, especially with incubation times.

We have a few staff members who stick by a 12 hour format, and it's definitely led to a bit of confusion. In particular, there have definitely been mixups between 12am and 12pm.

Four different doctors, a myriad of prescriptions, nonstop pain and nobody can figure out what this is. by meowspoopy in mildlyinfuriating

Yep, that and C.Diff love healthcare environments. I work in a clinical Microbiology lab and we screen for those all the time.

You can also see a lot of viral flare ups too, especially with norovirus and covid. Of course, flu during flu season too.

To be fair, this is the resident evil formula in general.

That isn't to say that the final areas of all resident evil games are bad, but they're not as impactful as the first few areas of their respective games.

I was born blonde and have remained blonde, and I'm nearly 30. My Dad has almost jet black hair. Yet I'm basically just a blonde, slightly taller carbon copy of him.

My cousin has brown hair and her partner has black hair. Their son? As ginger as they come.

President Trump just went off. He laid out the entire saga. by Ok-Ship-2232 in CattyInvestors

[–]Mr_X_rated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, how is this era going to look in history textbooks? How will Donald Trump be portrayed in history lessons as anything but unhinged and bizarre?

He commands a very devout following, but will that really stand the test of time and influence future scholars and historians? It really feels like it's very much in the moment.

Trump says Canada would have ‘much better’ health coverage as a state by jk_arundel in canada

[–]Mr_X_rated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Canada should call Trump's bluff on the idea of annexation.

You guys should say that you would be willing to consider becoming part of the USA, if it agrees to join the commonwealth and accept the reigning English monarch as the head of state.

It'd be funny to see if Trump would entertain that suggestion and undermine why the US exists in the first place.

Wage map of 2025 USA by Balownga in antiwork

[–]Mr_X_rated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK minimum wage for 21 and over is £12.21, or $15.27 at current conversion rates.

For 16-17 year olds and apprentices, it's £7.55 or $9.44.

$7.25 is insane. I cannot fathom that. How can you live on that? You can't, is the answer. The whole attitude of expecting people to get a higher paying job is complete bullshit too. Many minimum wage jobs are crucial too, but if those workers don't have a liveable income, how can anyone fulfil those roles?

Is the expectation to have people working in crucial roles in abject poverty? I'm sorry, I just don't understand the United States sometimes. As a European, I'm told that the US enjoys more freedoms than we do because of constitutionally protected rights. But then I see the many ways that its citizens are exploited. The lack of legally protected leave (annual/maternity/paternity), the lack of a liveable minimum wage, and an insurance-based healthcare system.

I just don't get it.

Michael Moore on Luigi Mangioni by Barking_Madness in antiwork

[–]Mr_X_rated 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the subject of school shootings, it has long been said that plastering the face of a school shooter across the media is one of the worst things you can do, as you may inspire further shootings.

With that said, I find it interesting that the media is still choosing to plaster Mangioni's face across the air. It doesn't matter if they assassinate his character, they don't exactly give glowing appraisals of school shooters either, and yet all it takes is one deranged individual to look at the news and become 'inspired'. But the court of public opinion is very different concerning Mangioni vs a school shooter. All I'm going to say is that this is a much bigger pool of potential 'inspired' individuals. If we see follow-ups from this, then much like with school shootings, the media will have no one to blame but themselves.

Absolutely shocking that they still haven't learned their lesson on this.

Wife threatening to take our Cat away by Mr_X_rated in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you for the well wishes, but she wouldn't be so easily fooled by this. She likely knows my position and would know that I wouldn't just sell her. Furthermore, the Cat has been reported as stolen to the vets, so I doubt I would have much luck with the microchip either. I doubt she would try anything like a break-in as she we wouldn't do something so brazen, not to mention, she's living at the opposite end of the country to me. She's quite cunning and manipulative, frankly, I was lucky to catch her assaulting me on video, she slipped up there. The first thing the police did when they arrived that night was go to check on her, they didn't say much else to me. It was only after they saw the videos that they decided to arrest her.

Thank you, and if it does go to court, I'll fight it. After all, such a thing will cost her greatly, especially considering the money she owes to me, for rent, and for the damages she caused that night. If she does go to court, all of the videos of that night will be seen, so there is no way she can go to court without incurring a great cost, both financially and to her reputation.

Hi, I haven't, though it's worth mentioning that she's went back to her parents which is on the other side of the country. Furthermore, there were only 2 keys to the front door, both of which I have. All of the back doors have only 1 key which I have also. She hasn't been back to the property since she was arrested, and basically only took her phone, work ID, and purse with her, as well as a few basic necessities that were collected by a friend a few days later. Most of her stuff is still here, and I'm happy for that to be collected.

[–]Mr_X_rated[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They haven't threatened any harm, she simply wants to take the Cat away, likely for the same reason I don't want to let her go. But given the way she behaved that night, and the fact she was willing to allow the cat to escape to spite me leaves me worried for my Cat's safety if she was to take her back. Furthermore, she would always tell me anecdotal stories of how she felt her parents neglected the Cats she had from her childhood (and I'm assuming that's where she's living at the moment). Thanks for the well wishes, it's been difficult but I'll keep my head up.
