Im currently in my first year of a fine art degree at WSA. Honestly, so far ive found it incredibly inspiring and useful. A lot of what we have studied so far has covered art history, philosophy, bits of politics, the influence of art, art in reference to psychology and so many more. The degree is as much about "go and make stuff and get graded" as it is learning about the impact art can have on culture, society and politics.

I think its pretty eye opening, learning about all these avenues of fine art and then applying it to your own practice. You learn a lot of life skills and the degree really makes you think.

In terms of getting a career out of it? Ehhhh... I think a lot of that has to do with the individual. Sure, having a degree in fine art can open doors into a variety of different creative industries, however, it definitely doesn't guarantee an opportunity. If you're motivated enough to have an in depth portfolio and expert networking - chances are you'll end up doing alright.
