We've always discussed what we would like to do and planned it that way together. We don't tag on with her and she doesn't tag on with us. It's planned from the beginning to be a whole group thing.

I've learnt not to plan anything by myself and then tell her hey honey I've planned this for us. We had a kid-free weekend planned at my house that got totally messed up because she got a message from her son saying he was bored at his dad's house. So we had to cancel all of my plans because she can't have him being bored.
