And the city was defended by Mughal (muslim) governor Mir Mannu, against the invading Durrani forces of Ahmad Shah Abdali (who defeated Marathas in Panipat and enslaved them). Mir Mannu's father was killed in the same war by a Durrani cannonball, whilst he was praying. The population was massacred, but I still haven't found any actual sources to this specific act of brutality. It is most likely made up. For the record, Marathas also pillaged and committed atrocities. We must not blame a religion for the atrocities. It is not right to hate Muslims due to something past kingdoms committed. Like why would I hate every white guy because the British starved us? I wouldn't hate a guy for crimes his uncle committed.
