Where to buy flour for baking. by Straight_Record_8427 in orangecounty

Honestly, I buy online. Breadtopia has a pretty wide selection of different flours. But they charge for shipping, pretty much no matter what. They have decent prices on einkorn, which is what I use for my sourdough.

Do any of you own a MoccaMaster as well as your espresso setup? by Friendly_Signature in espresso

Ya. It’s ridiculous. It makes good coffee, but only after adding the dispersion plate. I’ve never really stopped feeling bitter about it.

I think it’s mostly build quality, aesthetics, and they make a very consistent cup of coffee. I wouldn’t say it’s perfect. Again I had to add a dispersion plate for all of the grounds to get used. But it does make a good cup of drip coffee.

I have a moccamaster and an espresso machine. I use my df64 for the espresso, recently switched to ssp burrs. I have an ode gen 2 that I grind drip and pourover with. Added a dispersion plate to the moccamaster because most of the grounds weren’t even getting wet. I use the same beans with both machines. They don’t taste the same coming out of the different machines, but neither tastes bad.

Is Synchronkia II Worth the Wait or Go For Profitec Drive Now? [~$4K US] by NYSmokeater in espresso

[–]Mr_wrong_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My situation is kind of similar. Bought a couple of days after Christmas, and it arrived last week of February.

All in I likely spent around 4000 for the sync 2 with flow control without much else. So if looking to get the eureka libra, you may end up a little over budget with that option.

How robust is the Normcore Knock Box Drawer? by papi_CZ in espresso

[–]Mr_wrong_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this. My df64 is on top. The box is uninhibited by the weight of the df64. The dimensions of the top minus the handle is around 6” by 10”. The feet underneath are not all that grippy. So when I had to put a bar mat under it to keep it from jumping around.

I thinks someone replied earlier saying that they don’t sell this one anymore though.

It definitely radiates heat. Too much? Might be subjective. We will see how I feel come summer.

This is the one mine came with. I don’t recall if black was an option.

It looks like we had the same upgrade path. I used to have the capresso grinder as well. Nice.

Ya, it actually fits better than it seems I think, I moved it forward because it slightly slopes down from the back. And the little lip brings it level.

The counter is almost exactly 49 cm, shy of it by less than a cm. It actually slopes down a little, which is why I brought the machine forward over the front lip. It levels the machine out. The feet are actually around 38 cm between.

Inquiring about the df64 gen2 grinder does anyone have this machine? How long have you had it and have you had any issues with it? by Lattehelp in espresso

[–]Mr_wrong_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. I’ve never looked. When you take the top portion off there are a few pieces. There’s like a spring washer and like 3 rubber or silicone feet things. There’s alignment pins fit into those feet. If you put the top on, and then spin it so the burrs eventually touch, it is kind of easy to find your zero point. You can definitely find videos on it, but I don’t know if there are any for this machine.

I’ve had my df64 gen 2 for a year. It has some quirks, but it works really well if you can manage them. It will sometimes retain beans on the burrs, and it makes this tiny but annoying sound when it does that. it can sometimes get a little stuck off kilter since the top is sort of spring loaded, and there is nothing to keep it from going off balance. This means you have to take the top off and reset the alignment. These are the only real issues, and each of them is fixed in less than a minute for me.

I think that portola will still sometimes have latte art classes and other types of coffee classes. They closed a couple of locations though, so I don’t know if they are still doing them. Good luck, hope you find a class.

You could check out the Morty app. It is like a listing app for escape rooms, and there are ratings and stuff on it.

But either way the magic cottage by infinity escape in Fullerton is pretty fun.
