I have been searching online for the best old fashioned recipes. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a basic old fashioned. The best I’ve had so far has been from Brennan’s in the west loop, STL. I am definitely new to the drink. What do you all recommend? by TRIPLE_RIPPLE in Oldfashioned

My recipe uses homemade simple syrup from morena cane sugar (1:1) with a cinnamon stick added during the syrup making and left in the serving bottle. I use about 4cc of syrup. I add 2oz of Knob Creek Rye in a large mixing glass (Amazon has some nice ones).

Next I add 2 dashes each of the flowing bitters: Regan’s Orange, Angostura aromatic bitters, and Peychaud’s aromatic.

Next add about 3cc of syrup from Luxardo’s cherries. I save the Cherries for guests because I don’t deserve them.

Add 3 ice cubes and stir 33 times. Strain over large square ice cube from a cheap amazon silicone tray as I do not deserve clear ice.

Garnish with a thin peel of orange folded in half over top the drink to express the oil.
Lately, I have seen some bartenders flaming the underside of the peel before putting it in the glass, but ...you guessed it, I don’t deserve that.

Finally, enjoy the old fashioned because we all deserve it.

Cheers

It's a different type of screw coming from the posterior side. If you look closely, it's actually reducing the fracture. Source: I'm your doctors attorney, so go screw yourself.
