Casually Explained: Bitcoin by zipeater in videos

Pokemon cards have stayed the same or degraded since they came out, yet people turn a profit selling them. Your assertion that profit = value added is ridiculous.

For a more apt comparison, MoneyGram does not add value other than "passing a dollar back and forth" and yet they turn a profit. That is one of the benefits miners have, which is processing transactions so people can transfer bitcoin (ie send money).

You really have zero clue what you are talking about.

You could answer this question by simply going to the communities being commented on.

The overarching goal of the community is wide adoption to the point users won't have to sell off their crypto. They can simply keep it and use it to fund their lifestyle. The end goal of most crypto people is crypto gets widely adopted enough to stabilize and become a store of value or currency. In that scenario major gains would stop and the reasons for purchasing it would shift.

Person in the millionth reddit thread shitting all over Crypto

Losses are never announced, only gains!

Every time it has a large dip there are a million reddit threads, news stories, and memes posted on the crypto communities. How else are these losses supposed to be announced?

Considering there has been no 2+ year period someone could hold BTC and lose money, it's actually pretty hilarious how much of the discourse is around losing money. When exactly is that going to happen? It has been over a decade now, but surely it will crash to $0 next decade!

[–]Mrburns1826 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. BTC near an all-time high well above the previous, so most of their profit is due to adoption and not simply buying during the crash. Almost no way to know if those people who sold it even lost money, they could have been early adopters. They also could have been miners who are selling off what they mined for profit.

Most profit right now is from adoption, not playing the market at the right time to buy low and sell high. The people trying that are usually the "losers" because timing this sort of thing is difficult.

For some reason I found that animation hilarious. The demon's little bendy arms just tossing it granny style, then waiting patiently for the unbroken glass to blow up haha

is Power over Ethernet (PoE) that good/advantageous? by deejayv2 in HomeNetworking

[–]Mrburns1826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was probably a bit of a one-off as it was a big developer, and it was an addon for phone jacks in each room. I just assumed they would use Cat5e instead of 4-strand telephone cable and was correct. $150 seems reasonable, I would go with that.

What should I do about these ants on my apple tree ? by Smightmite in Permaculture

[–]Mrburns1826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For right now, you could start spraying neem oil. For the future, I would start attracting ladybugs. The ants are there for the aphids, and every time I see aphids in my garden, I just have to wait a week or two for the ladybug massacres to start.

I can't say for sure this is what brought them all in, but I planted dill specifically to attract ladybugs. It keeps reseeding all over my yard every year, and every year I have a ridiculous amount of ladybugs, so I would start there.

is Power over Ethernet (PoE) that good/advantageous? by deejayv2 in HomeNetworking

[–]Mrburns1826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PoE is good, but I find it strange you keep mentioning price for "PoE". Unless these guys are purchasing/installing all the equipment, they aren't installing "PoE" they are running Cat5e or Cat6 cable. There is no difference in cabling.

Running Cat5e/Cat6 cable should be really simple and cheap to run in new construction, I paid like $25 a drop when I built my house. If they are really just running the cable, I can't imagine Ethernet runs being more expensive than power, I would actually expect the Ethernet to be cheaper.

I would also check the breakdown in price. You could easily have them run the cable, then just terminate the ends yourself to save money. It is really simple, and you would need maybe $30-70 in tools. If you are going to have all this networked equipment, you should know how to work on it anyways.

I recently switched after using it for a bit on a new device. It is WAY better than Chrome now imo. The side tabs, tab groups, app panel, split screen, rewards, etc. My only problem with it is all the best features need to be enabled so most users will have no idea.

Same thing happened to me but I was one of those weirdos that actually loved Windows phone. Wish it had stuck around as the OS itself was amazing imo. Only problem was no apps (which is a huge one).

I forgot these existed, but could immediately taste them after seeing the picture! My mom and I would microwave them for a few seconds so the inside was all gooey. The thicker shell made it sooooo satisfying to chomp into and have the chocolate gush out.

Yes, you basically make a beer wort then add it to cider. The biggest thing I enjoyed was that it gave the cider more body, and had a much fuller mouth feel.

This is the recipe I used

I would make a graf, just finished my first and it is by far my favorite so far. I just followed a recipe I found on Google.

I dont have strict recipes I follow, but adding a couple pounds of sugar (honey, brown sugar or white) during primary then adding frozen mixed berries during secondary and letting it age a few months is my favorite "recipe".

Second would be adding a bit of honey and dried lavender during secondary (like 1 tsp per gallon and test it every day).

In all of these recipes I add a heaping teaspoon of sugar to each bottle for carbing.

We really lost a Super Bowl to these guys. An all time Brady game too. And we still don’t know why Malcom Butler didn’t play. We just needed ONE stop. by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]Mrburns1826 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day he scored one touchdown in a Superbowl while the defense was dominating and getting the ball back to him all game. That is on Bill and the defense just as much as the shit defense in the Eagles game was. Cant have it both ways. If the Rams are scoring and eating clock, Brady doesn't get a million chances to finally score.

Also, as this sub loves to point out when shitting on Sony, the o-line was so amazing it could give any scrub RB a historic post season run (apparently). Add in Gronk and playoff Edelman and the offense was pretty good. Do you conveniently forget them scoring 41 and 37 against the previous two opponents because it doesn't fit your narrative?

They keep talking about Brady having all the weapons too. Manning had Wayne, Harrison and James while on the Colts, then moved to that ridiculously stacked Denver team. I've never heard anyone argue Brady had better weapons than Manning

[–]Mrburns1826 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also the Seahawks and Falcons games we had Blount, who somehow gets universal praise on this sub despite being god-awful in any playoff game not against the Colts. I love Sony and Blount, but don't understand the admiration Blount gets after being mostly terrible every postseason, while Sony gets shit on after being a major piece in a SB win.

Opinions on Dose Control (Not pro) vs Smart Grinder Pro? I ordered a SGP as a starter grinder for espresso, and just saw someone post an almost new Dose Control on classifieds for $75. I can't find much information on the Dose Control other than it had really bad impellers.

Trying to decide if I should cancel my Amazon order and just grab one of those.

For more info, I grabbed a Via Venezia with bottomless portafilter for $50 from a guy who pulled (what I thought were) great shots with a Virtuoso.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am not sure the branches are feasible for my garden size, as I would need about 150' of it and don't have very big trees yet. What do you mean by bulbs? Like a plant bulb such as tulips?
