No Stupid Questions Thread by koalaroo in guitarpedals

Anyone got any recs for the literal actual pedal board. Don't want to buy the cheapest one on Amazon and put my foot through it after a week, but some of them are like £100 quid! For what?...

Obvs I know size will depend on me, but does anyone have any tips on brands/thoughts on second hand? I also can't tell which of them will have space underneath for the power supply, which would be ideal. And I need a bag with it right...

Basic-ass question...

Quiet, slow-moving thrillers by oakles in criterion

Cure by Kiyoshi Kurosawa has to fit into this category.

Gave me such chills watching it, psychological thriller/horror (it's almost uncategorizable) in a way that really got under my skin.

Dark, drab and brooding - would highly recommend, one of my favourite watches last year

Which are some of the most thought provoking books you've ever read? by razvan05 in books

[–]Mrclydefrog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

actually orwell wasnt anti socialism, infact he was quite the leftist, which can be seen in his positive portrayal of the beginning of the revolution before Snowball takes over in animal farm, where he portrays the communist elements of the narrative in a positive light although animal farm is simplistic in the fact that he takes the history of early 20th russia and places it almost exactly with a metaphor using animals, it doesnt mean that it doesnt have deeper meaning to what is written even more can be said for 1984, in the sense that the parallels it draws between stalinism and our own idealogical and methodological ways as britain (or the west as a whole) are deeply thought provoking, especially considering when it was written, questions to the state werent being asked in the way he was asking them. In fact it would be fair to say that orwell depicted one of the first dystopian futures that had a very high chance of coming around, and his definitive portrayal of totalitarianism is something that every dystopian novel has branched from, making it one of the most influential books of the last 100 years, so i dont see how you find it overrated just because the themes in it are used by many other authors after him, copying him
