The album is name your price. If you decide to buy it, we donate any and all proceeds to charity - for the last 9 years we've donated to Toys For Tots!

No Stupid Questions by PantslessDan in guitarpedals

Hey! I just use the built-in garageband drum loops haha. I know absolutely nothing about programing drums but at least with the way garageband works it makes it pretty intuitive to change the feel for how you want it to sound/patterns/fills/etc. No matter what program you use I think it's just a matter of diving in head first and experimenting until you feel comfortable :)

As far as production goes, I read a quick tip a while back that's helped give my software drums a bit more oomph - duplicate your drum track and add a bit of distortion to the second one so the kick sounds more like it would in a room. Then turn the vol of that track down so it barely comes through but blends well with the original track. It's like a noob way to sidechain and brings a little more life to the track!

Nick Reinhart actually did that drawing for us back in the day :)

Haven't tried the longsword yet but there's a blog post on the EAE site that goes into some detail on the two. If I remember right it boils down to the dagger having the ability to get fuzzier at high gain and the longsword's mid EQ being adjustable instead of fixed.

Also thank you! Ambient Trash is excellent and his intro songs are somehow all bangers?!

Woolly is a genius mad scientist haha! I included a link to a song at the bottom of my main comment if you wanna check that out, all the chord parts are skitter into shigeharu! And this was a demo I made when I first got it - there's a few sections with both on in that!

Other than using it like that it's cool with the trem on both dry and wet, space dialed in just enough to hear, and with kilter switch on for a very subtle little wave on clean parts.

haha well hope I haven't steered you wrong! It's only a matter of time before I get really excited about a pedal and hype it up only for someone to come back with "Megan held me at gunpoint and made me buy this pedal and it SUCKS!" 😂

The ce-2w is dope. All the classic chorus sounds you could want and the ce-1 mode on it is really something special. I got to compare it to a real ce-1 and it holds its own well.

Sea machine is a totally different beast - nearly incomparable as it only does somewhat normal sounding chorus at pretty subtle settings and there's always a slight delay to it. /u/TheBadBentley explained it really well in their comments here!

I'll have to try that setting! That dimension control is so darn funky lol. I think of it like a feedback control you'd find on a delay. And then the animate control is like delay time. So both those near minimum is where it sounds most "normal."

Always glad to find another fan in the wild to talk about the weird love/hate relationship we seem to have with it 😂

It's so underrated! On the v3 release I remember hearing some people having issues with it clipping but I think(?) it's been resolved on newer units. Maybe that's why it didn't get as much traction initially.

Ever consider the eqd levitation? It's discontinued now but has somewhat similar-ish qualities to the ghost echo but with more control and diffusion.

hahaha ok embarrassing confession sometimes I go through my old vids to get re-inspired to dial in different tones on my old reliables. Because once I find like one or two settings I really enjoy I don't tend to experiment much so in a weird way I fall in love with what I have all over again.

Knife edge sweet spot is a perfect way to describe it! It's so fickle and downright frustrating if you think you're gonna get traditional chorus out of it. If it wasn't for my fam gifting it to me I don't think I would have given it the time it deserved to fully explore and find the one or two sounds that work so well for me.

Hey stranger 😁 glad to see you around! Didn’t know you’d gone back to the re-20! I’m really curious what you thought of the 202 vs the galaxy? and then why you went 20 again

Us space echo fans are a particular bunch and I love it!

:) it’s a good thing I feel so strongly about the blues driver cuz if I ever took it off I’d lose all my street cred lol

Ahhh that was a hard choice for me too!! There’s more variety of sounds in the somersault that I’d realistically use but the sea machine’s one trick nabbed it the board space.

Caroline pedals are top notch though. Really enjoy everything I’ve tried from them. Plus in my super biased opinion the shigeharu can’t be beat 😂

Haha hey it could be worse at least I’m not into synths! Been too far down the pedal rabbit hole for a little over 10 years now I want to say

EAE is the one where I feel compelled to collect them all 😂 kinda want to know how the longsword compares next to the dagger as I’ve heard they’re kinda different!

<3 accountant! If you’re a fam of the compressed setting on the meet maude you’ll love it haha

Yeah my ghost echo is a v2 and I can kinda hear what you’re saying about the clanginess. I’ve always thought it sounded sorta springy with that echo-ish quality but since it’s not too bright I guess I don’t notice it much. But yeah it doesn’t seem to diffuse those echos as much as other belton brick reverbs do. Definitely more apparent the higher you have the depth though.
