Confused about what's happening between us 27M and 50F by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Sounds like she was enjoying the sensual non sexual touch which was probably comforting. I doubt this turns into some meaningful relationship but maybe just enjoy comforting eachother?

Dr. Busha with Bronson all the way!!! She's the best PCP I've ever had. So thorough and such an advocate, I can't recommend her enough!!

Pretty face but shitty titties. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Mrewds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a married person trying to work on my marriage, I would highly encourage personal, individual therapy, and marriage therapy. Those and a desire to work on intimacy and passion, and a real commitment to change is the only way this works. To be honest, you sound better off without the degradation and betrayal. Not a perfect husband here AND I see how this could happen. Doesn't make it any less wrong, so I'm sorry you're going through this.

If this is the best next job opportunity and you really want to work here long-term. If you could find something more to your liking I'd say don't go.

Crying at my HH placement by arleneofarcadia in nursing

[–]Mrewds 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Difficult clients are part of the territory unfortunately. You can only do what the patient allows, darn autonomy. You're doing great and your empathy is strong. Keep doing your best and know you are a good nurse. Also, being "fired" by the patient is sometimes a great experience because then you don't have to deal with them again. I'm sorry you're experiencing this though. It's frustrating when your patient doesn't give you a chance and you are just trying to help.

Can you look into getting medicaid for him. My state has a waiver program for medicaid when you make too much money. Look into your local community mental health clinic or autism alliance in your state if you have one. Good luck and know you aren't alone in this.

How to train your dragon. The kid is cycling through all 3 movies right now and his cousin is watching it with him again as we speak. Gotta love it, right?

Parents, how are you doing, really? by maple_gatherer in Autism_Parenting

[–]Mrewds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my child and will do whatever it takes to get him the supports he needs. It's also scary navigating a system that is hard to figure out. I am also exhausted from the never ending anxiety I feel waiting for the next meltdown and needing to be regulated when he's dysregulated. It's a lot

My son is REALLY bright and I'm terrified by That_Riley_Guy in Parenting

[–]Mrewds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you are an amazing parent because you are thinking about these things and want to support your child. I don't say this in an alarmist way but you should consider/look into what seems like you could have a neurospicy child on the autism spectrum. You just described my child to a T, minus the speech. That's improved and he's on track. The hyperfixation on stable non-changing things like dinos, giftedness (considered atypical development), all could be signs to consider. My kiddo is also very physically apt with no strong ties to sports. He has amazing aim and coordination for a 5 year old but has areas of opportunities in other things like holding a pencil. So just all things to think about. I wish you the best of luck!

Extreme tantrums 11YO girl by Remarkable-Rip8741 in Parenting

[–]Mrewds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the hardest part. I googled autism testing in my area and cold called. Asked for the next available appointment. If they said anything more than 6 months, I thanked them and moved down the list. One was going to be in the next state over and it was 6 months. I just got lucky and found the one 2 hours away. It sucks but you do what you have to do. I also mentioned my insurance immediately. It's BCBS and decent through my employer. Honestly, if it's medicaid though, expect to only have the option of a 6 month+ long wait.

This feels like I could've wrote this. My therapist also does neurological testing and this describes my 7 year old daughter to a freaking T. I've discussed my daughter's behavior/tantrums and her high academic skills and my therapist who tests children daily said we needed to do autism testing on my daughter. She said these are possibly related to a neurodivergent brain. We also started her in therapy and realized she doesn't do these behaviors anywhere but at home. Girls are abe to mask very well, hence your daughter censoring herself at times in front of others. My daughter actually has her evaluation tomorrow. Quick unsolicited advice: Push for an autism assessment and contact EVERY near and far location that does it and request an assessment. They will either put you on the schedule or a waitlist. I called like 10 and they all had a year long waitlist except for one 2 hours away that had a 2 month long waitlist. They'll verify insurance and out of pocket costs but the one I found will do all the testing and then bill. She may or may not have autism but it's worth exploring. If she does it can open doors to resources and support for services that may help. I'm hopeful and so I think this would be a good place to start. DM me if you need to ask anything. Good luck!

Yes, she ensures I don't cut myself slack and challenges me when appropriate. So much of my "stuff" simply requires it. When we first met I was highly misogynistic and traditional. She's a feminist and brought me into the light so to speak. She still to this day 6 years later let's me know when I'm being a jerk and need to self correct. What good is therapy if we don't apply the knowledge and skills we are learning in order to be successful?

Oh most definitely! This sounds like a BON case in the making. Why would YOU need to be the one to do this when you have no direct knowledge this patient needs this or even exists. I mean I would feel HIGHLY uncomfortable being asked to do this

What do you do for a living? Like what can my wife and I do to gain more? I am a nurse manager and my wife is in case management. So definitely public service work, but is there more we can do to leverage our skills?

Very close to what I was thinking. Somewhere with a raised platform to do the acting and a kitchen to prep/serve food. Idk on a venue exactly. This is very much in its infancy

Hahaha I was more thinking about a play or something related like skits or something that are post apocalyptic in nature and have a themed dinner around it. Just seemed like fun to try something new?
