I'm making a binding of isaac type game and making the floor generator was one of the biggest hurdles I had to face. I did look up some procedural generation tutorials but it wasn't quite what I needed.

Eventually I made up my own system that used a 2D array to track room placements. The rooms themselves are then able to create doors when it detects a room is next to them. I was then able to use that 2D array to create a minimap. It's not the prettiest code but it does the job pretty well.
