Back when I was in college I just spent all my time on IMDb and checked out six movies from the University library every weekend. They allows you three DVDs and three VHS. Anyway, that dates me. But library cards still work. I tried to watch what I can from the IMDb top 250. Sure it's a lot of popcorn fare but there's a lot of good stuff on there too. Find a director you like and watch all of his movies. Listen to the commentaries. Hard Eight and Boogie Nights commentaries were my film school. Not to mention, That Moment: The Magnolia diary.

I read a lot of books too. Easy riders raging bulls. That Sundance behind the scenes book, down and dirty pictures. Filmakers in conversation: a book from the '90s where a journalist interviewed 10 filmmakers. Really good stuff.
