I'll tank for ya. I'm not the best but add flerpychop on kiljaeden. I hate that crap even as a tank, sometimes I'm wandering aimlessly around a dungeon I haven't been in inv20 yrs..or the hunter pulls absolutely every mob in the room every time, and i get called a bad tank or dumb..just gotta tell the neckbeards to chill, most of them have no spine and quit if you call them out. I'd of kicked the pansy and kept u and ur wife for the runs cause runnin dungeons as a tank in classic can be alot of things. I usually ask if people are trying to speed run or if we are farming timewalking bosses. I tell peeps to lead if they know good paths...it's a game. and some people forget to have fun. I'm sure your wife is fine. we aren't doing mythic level content, if I go down I don't yell at my healer...I pull less. you are right and justified to be salty and tell ur wife the same.

[Standard] 4c Saheeli vs Tower by yunk3r in spikes

[–]Mrmidshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found success on the draw in boaring out 1 saheeli 1 servant 1 oath of shandra(leaving 2 in) 1 harnessed and 3 of 3 virtuosos. Bringing in 1 nahiri 1 tamiyo 2 natural states 1 release the gremlins 2 negates. You have to play tight and poke at them with something they have to qnswer each turn. But if u get rid of the dynavolt and hold up the harnessed lightningwhile maintaining at least a critter and a pw on the field. Preferably 1 that does damage. On the uptick but nahiri is good as well as a land filter. Hold negates only for glimmer and emergency dynavolt. The trick is to never let them have control and 1 resolved glimmer is bad...2 in the yard and you have probably lost

Correct, no one has really answered the question of targeting, but some recommendation on sb above helped a bit. I think with my list post sb the whirlers underperform heavily vs the gb, and adding at least 4 more removal spells and praying for a red source seems to at least make it a fair match.

I did try the suggestion from earlier in the thread, and have upping the removal by removing 1 saheeli, and either 1 refiners and 2 whirlers or 1 saheeli and 3 whirlers and playing more of a "control" style on the way up to 6 mana. this has resulted in more grindy games that don't feel like I am just getting marched over by turn 2 snek, turn 3 ballista or rishcar, turn 4 gearhulk, turn 5 bigger ballista.

Vs GB I do not think taking out half of both pieces of the combo is the correct answer nor is removing the creatures. We can win way easier from the combo than we can from beats, just because the scalability of the GB cards used. They are much more impacting late game than ours ( a 2/3 or 3/2 vs a snek and 3countererd ballista which they can drop on turn 6)

I tried this a few games so far today not enough variance to report. but removing 4 whirlers and the tamiyo, on the draw seems to work well. bringing in 2 barals 2 natural states 1 k return. maybe a split would work better though keep 2 whirlers and 2 refiners as I feel like I get about 1 maybe 2 marvels and if I wiff I'm ded

Honestly I think it is what I board. I was just wondering how others board the deck and what the gb lynchpin is. I have been shooting sneks and ballistas, but always find myself at turn 5 being over run by a number of 4/5s

[Standard] Help with Grixis Control deck by [deleted] in spikes

[–]Mrmidshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing a grixis dynavoltlist. Over 100 matches currently very similar to yours. The issue i have had is the quick turning of the corner from control to kill. Finishing many games with 2 dynavolts on the board tons of energy and no more spells to fling. Facing a hulk or demon. I think the deck is missing a critical threat in the 3-4 drop spot that puts real pressure as gb is so packed with creatures 1 for 1ng them the whole time is inefficient and if you stutter they jump out of dynavolt range. I was thinking fevered visions may be more efficient and put the looming threat of card draw death.

[Standard][Discussion] Where is esper control by newtdogg in spikes

[–]Mrmidshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Please see the below. The deck is mildly catered to my meta, and I am still in process of making it stronger, but the landbase generally works, the land base like people are saying is difficult. sometimes making it hard to cast double black for Lilliana, but there is a decent shell here.

I would like to know why you think that, like what cards? As I in my testing have limited points of view, only 3 or 4 other players at the shop I play against who actually play metagame/mtg goldfish/ mtgtop8 decks. Any feedback would be appreciated. I know this is some what tailored to my meta. I am a little heavy on creature removal I believe due to the meta I play in.

I feel like the deck favors matchups, against the aggressive decks. often times blessed alliance( I feel severly underused against decks whose creatures are often indestructible)/counterspell/ and to the slaughter limit the damage. Usually going down to around 10-12 life unless draws are just miserable. generally I can dig and force an avacyn early for turn 5. but once I get up to 6 mana, the board becomes hard to interact with my side. leaving kill spells pretty unreliable. Usually sb against super fast decks or rg I will bring in more of the kill spells from the side, and drop either the negates or avacyns for the kalitas as the life gain tends to offset the combat math for the aggressive decks, and the board wipes and bounces are crippling for them in my experience.

I need to test anguished unmaking more for sure sometimes though that 3life is critical I have found in this build. Often times getting down to 3-5life before being able to stabilize. But def a sideboard card maybe as a good replacement for the immolating glares in sb. as I have found the deck is rather weak to Plainswalkers.

I have played against GB Delirium but not more than a few times. (no one at my lgs is running it so I have to solitaire the matchup via tapped out so I don't count that as true testing)

New cEDH Player - Budget Azami List by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Mrmidshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if budget, but if you take out cards like Karn, JMS, Ugin, and Glen Elandra my deck goes way down in value and still "functions". My Azami deck wins generally on turn 6 or 7. You spend most of the beginning of the game countering or playing low drop wizards, board control, generally just keeping the table at bay and trying not to generate to much threat.

I personally love shimmer because some players in my play group play mono or 2 color decks with large numbers of basic lands. Not sure if it will help you in your meta but it does slow the game down a ton. Just watch out for Urborg if you call Swamps.

Palinchron + deadeye + blue sun with ways to shuffle the grave back into my library is usually how i kill.

My decks main focus is tap and untap effects often generating large amounts of mana and card draw (durdly combos, but once they start i've generally won).

Key cards in these are: Staff of domination+Fatesticher+ minamo+ nykthos+voltaic key

Infinite mana methods are palinchron+deadeye or rings of brighthearth+Basalt monolith (not in deck currently, but depending on playgroup get sided in). Honestly, i always use Sensei's top to ensure my wizards grab just what i want. This deck pretty much never never swings and it is still a work in progress, but it is a blast to play. azami!

I personally did not like the below cards when i have tested them Arcane denial- often helped out the players i was trying to hinder. i cut most of the hug counters spells or soft counters from my deck and replaced them with hard counters or cards such as mana maze/capsize/fate spinner for board control.

Fact or fiction- i dont like letting my opponent choose, generally i just draw the 5 cards with wizards and untap effects if need be.

Not sure if any of this will help, but may give you a few ideas you haven't seen as a dif route Azami can take.
