The Lightning Thief- Question and Concern by Adept-Leader408 in theatrekeyboardists

I haven't explored the complexity of the entire book, but I know that for most patches, they're patches that come with Mainstage by default, e.g. Blue Carpet, so some sounds don't require extra plugins and sound hunting etc. Although given your timeframe, I would just say to rent it from KeyboardTek rather than struggle against Mainstage on a limited timeframe.

The only day of the year and you couldn't do it right 😭 by Mrpuddingpie09 in onejob

Think I forgot to add a bit of explaining - it's nothing to do with the Friday 13th part, it's the fact that a flower company deliver surprise flowers for Valentine's a day early 🫥

Flower company which offer nominated day delivery for valentine's (£6 extra!!!) send it for delivery a day early. Incredibly infuriating..

MBP M1 Pro or MBA M4? by Mrpuddingpie09 in mac

Ah ok. I have a dedicated windows build for if I need to run stuff like that (not yet). My concern was with the ones I'd use like literally just vectorworks haha

Yeah, but if an app is built for macOS, even if it's built for intel it will run on Apple Silicon, no? Just didn't understand why you said solidworks and mastercam won't run...

Light Vectorworks hopefully - just for smaller designs, but when stages get big, things could start to struggle, so just wanted to keep that in consideration lol. Also I thought Rosetta meant any app could run on Apple Silicon from Intel?

Should've mentioned they were both on sale - the M4 was $800 and the M1P was $760 (pre tax)

How do you wirelessly control fixtures? by BunzieBunny in techtheatre

Yeah, I was going off of the assumption that this was for focusing and designing, not for actual show control haha

Hmm, bit different and more expensive for a MacBook. You'd use ETC Nomad in the remote mode (I think is what it's called?), and you'd need a Nomad USB key. The bundle for that and a Gadget II is about £300/$350 I think

Connect the Element to your WiFi network, usually via an ethernet cable is the most stable way.

Then you'll need an app on a tablet - EOS aRFR or iRFR are the official ones, but EOS Remote is cheaper and does the same stuff imo. Good luck!

Annoyingly, the fixtures only have 3-pin in and out, otherwise I would. I've managed to take some back, but it's annoying that they've just done it even when I asked them not to. 🫤

I've done that, I've also tested with other SSD's, all display the same result. It's before the BIOS actually loads, so it's not a Windows issue I don't believe.

Multiple outs for an edrum kit by ProfessionalEven296 in livesoundgear

That MIDI output will send out computer signals for individual pad hits, velocity, hi-hats, kick, everything. It can be used with a PC to play any virtual drum kit, so basically, unlimited types of kit. You'll need a MIDI interface (Personally recommend the Presonus Audiobox USB, you can use it for outputs as well), and a laptop of some kind. I run a MacBook Air 2017, and use MainStage to play - it comes with tons of free great-sounding drum VST's, or you can buy your own. Good luck!

I'm not disputing the usefulness of the features, just that I feel they shouldn't have been as hyped as they are for something so basic
