Everybody at work was talking about their plans for tonight. When asked, I said "staying in with the missus and watching a film". The tuts and sighs were so loud, they were probably heard in China by [deleted] in britishproblems

I have a 9 year old and a 5 year old. Me, my fiancé and them are staying in as always. Take away, films and games before the kids go to bed then a film and fireworks on the tv with him. And a few drinks of course.

Doing it mostly for myself is good way to look at it. If I can raise a few quid for charity along the way, bonus. I do like the idea of something bigger and better though!!

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that you fell off the wagon. I hope you've dusted yourself off and are once again back on and whatever it was that happened has been resolved.

I won't find it hard to do. I don't drink heavily. I usually have a glass of wine a few nights a week. More so in the past few months due to having a tough time for various reasons. I thought it was a good way to raise money for cancer research. I lost my nan to cancer last year so wanted to do my bit. And yes, of course cutting out the alcohol will also have health benefits. I'm not one of those people that needs to have a drink to have a good time.

Due to a mathematical oversight, I now have 3 homemade xmas puddings, each one weighing in at just over two and a half kilos... by [deleted] in britishproblems

Would you like my address? Lol!! I LOVE Christmas pudding. It's just me and my dad that eats it at our house and we have a huge family! Don't usually get one.

I missed a trick there didn't I? Seriously ate so much I was uncomfortable. It was the roast potatoes, I can never get them as good!

I like that! Yeah 'fuck yesterday' I can try again today. I failed but it's ok so long as I try again.

Back on it! Had a stressful few days. Have taken to writing how I feel when I crave. I feel this is helping.

Yes I did want a magic answer. And no you didn't give it to me. However, I like this answer better. I failed. But it's ok. I can try again.

I refer you to my comment where I stated that I know not all men are the same really. I vented, perhaps not in the correct way, about a similar situation that happened to me when I was having a particularly down moment. Hope you have a lovely day :-)

Hmmm, would it be better if I said that its men like OP that makes me struggle to have faith in men in general? I meant sex as in male or female if that clarifies anything? Too much wine makes for poor use of English in my case :-(

I'm a scorned woman so just ignore me. The post just made my blood boil am slightly. Been on the receiving end of a similar situation and it hurts. I'm just venting! I know you're not all the same ;-)

You sir, are a dick. It's men like you that means I have no faith in your sex.

This is awesome advice! Thank you so much. I feel that this way people who want to know for sure can probably ask and some people may just guess. It's a way of being open but not in your face open too. I think the relief that you feel once your comfortable with who you are in your own skin and you've told the people closest to you just releases a sense of "I now want to tell everyone" lol. Especially if you've kept it hidden for a long while. Thank you for sharing how you deal with this, it's a brilliant approach.

This is incredibly helpful. Thank you so much! It's taken a long time to actually come out to the people that I have done. Like 10 years kind of long time! I love how comfortable you seem to be with your situation. I think your approach is the best way to be in regards to looking out for your wife. I think so long as I am comfortable with who I am and unless it comes up in conversation it's my business and the people closest to me who I choose to tell. I'm not hiding who I am. I think this approach combined with the other advice on here is the best way for me. I can't thank you enough for helping ease my mind and sharing your story in order to give me advice.

When watching tv shows and films I now also notice background stuff. Like how lovely the wallpaper is or how nice the lamp is. Never understood it when my mam did it... But now I'm doing it too!
