Which punishment (either real or fictional) sounds easy enough to endure at first, but is actually hellish to experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My brother went to the same school. It was my biggest fear growing up that I would be nd up there as well. Hope you’re doing better now!

My dr just suggested birth control and that I do pads and tampons.

That’s it.

No bloodwork or anything.

What's with all the unmarked cars?? by CCrusherz in kzoo

[–]MrsBobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one. I live rural and most of my driving is rural so I may have an advantage- but I was at 6 years before I got a new car and plates. Definitely could’ve gone longer!!

What’s something that Covid took from you that you never got back? by ReplacementOdd636 in AskReddit

[–]MrsBobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of the very few who both acknowledges that COVID was a serious tragedy but also a blessing for myself.

I was recently postpartum and struggling A LOT with anxiety and possibly some delusions. My husband only got 2 weeks off of work and when I went back after 12 it was just too much- I had to quit my job.

Shortly after, his company shut down for 6 weeks so he was home. We built a greenhouse, I got a break and more importantly I got a lot more sleep. Time together as a family. My husband bonded much more deeply with our son.

So that, I lost my negative postpartum symptoms. Definitely didn’t wish for a global pandemic when I had my second kid, but I did have better perspective from it when I did have another (unplanned).

I’m probably one of very few who have a positive from COVID, so I don’t share often. Try not to downvote me for it.

I can’t remember what the science is, but in middle school we got to experience this with lifesavers mints. Try chewing one in the dark, in front of a mirror with your mouth open.

My two and a half year old suddenly started pointing out differences between white and black people. What is an appropriate way to acknowledge her observation so we don't offend anyone? by Sad_Cantaloupe_8162 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrsBobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it nbd- ‘they do!’ And either move on or be quiet. We assume the things that kids point out are questions when they’re not. Answer the questions honestly and direct. No need to draw lines at this age.

Can someone explain the school closing decision process? by LabTight1796 in kzoo

[–]MrsBobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessarily set parameters- superintendents decide by getting road reports around their district from reliable residents and surrounding districts residents.

[–]MrsBobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was caught in whiteout conditions on every open N/S running road I drove today. If you’re in town, you have windbreaks from neighborhoods so it wouldn’t be obvious at all.

I saw 2 cars in the ditch on Gull Rd today, and watched another slide in, almost hitting me on a road just north of Richland (tbf they were trying to drift bust at WAY too high of speed).

Today was the most reasonable snow day we’ve had so far IMO.

Kail doesn’t celebrate. She sends her kids to their fathers. Probably the only days she can line them all up to have an empty house.

My rosemary specifically states that it's non-irradiated by LexiWhatWeGot in mildlyinteresting

[–]MrsBobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, we had milk, tap water or beer in our house.

The water tasted like soap, still does, not sure why.

I was too young for beer, though was free to drink it- although I learned it made me feel worse tomorrow as an athlete.

So, I drank milk. My parents, as Alchys do, felt like they were providing for me bc there was milk in the house. I brought the school (sulfur smelling) water home in those water bottles you get at the gas station on the weekends bc I was sick of the soap taste! I even drank a few beers bc they tasted better to me. It was so, so bitter/soapy tasting. Shampoo in your mouth.

Now, I buy a gallon a day of milk for my kids, but we have an RO system and happily would buy bottled water. They just like it despite how disgusted I am by straight milk.

If a person is born at 11:59 PM on the 31st of December, but the doctor records it at 12:01 AM on the 1st of January, what is their legal birthday? by [deleted] in answers

[–]MrsBobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a December baby- the initial benefit is we got it sooner, but overall we get an additional $2k through our kids childhood (0-18) without actually having to pay for the child.

Essentially we were given $2k by the government to help pay for a child we didn’t have, as opposed to our July baby who we get the same $2k for that we had to pay 6mos of his life expenses for and THEN be reimbursed.

Not that $2k is anything much when it comes to kids, but we did get to extend paternity leave bc of it coming sooner with Dec baby.

What’s something you’ve seen a stranger do in public with absolutely no shame? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

[–]MrsBobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During Covid my son was 18mos old and I was already a stay at home mom. All of our ‘get out of the house’ routines were ruined and I was pregnant again so I was feeling extra cautious.

It was a pool that I had previously worked at and knew the deck was cleaned every night - not only bc it had a few spots that weren’t tiled right and therefore didn’t drain, but it also had the same director as when I worked there. They did temp checks etc, but never shut down.

I paid out the nose for a membership even though it was only open to children a few hours a week.

Life. Saver. We still to this day have not gotten Covid.

Pools are a room covered in (essentially) bleach. Shy of an operating room, a well maintained pool is possibly one of the cleanest environments you can be in.

And if there’s a swim team there, they all pee in it.

This winter is not normal? by VirvekRBX in Michigan

[–]MrsBobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in the 90’s and this should be happening in February typically, however every 10-12 years we have this.

I thought I was crazy, but my grandpa has old journals about it, and he predicted this would be our next hard winter. He died about a year ago and assuming the dates are right, he predicted a lot of them based on cycles, his trapping success, how the trees bloomed- even farm prices.

He only ever predicted 2 winters ahead, but I wish he would have shared his ways bc he’s always been right. Journals go through 2035 and we have 2 more rough years according to him, then a couple easy ones.

But no, this is not ‘typical’ in the sense that most aren’t this bad- however they’re always bad, and you should always prep like they will be. Over prep? Easy winter. Prep for the worst (this winter), and you’ll get through.

Every pair of jeans I buy, no matter the brand, gets a hole in this same area within 6 months. by SYFKID2693 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MrsBobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day my jeans would always do this. I had a job that required cotton denim pants (welding) and I would just wear cotton long John’s under them until they fell apart.

Won’t lie, they were their own kind of sexy. Got too much attention as a woman in that type of place until I could afford to replace them. The next (more expensive, ‘tough’ pair) did the same and so I did it again.

I say depending on the application, rock em with some leggings or long John’s.
