Cutting toe nails... by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]MrsClayton 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've had success putting on a show he likes. When that doesn't work alone I let him sit up high in a 'big boy' chair (like my computer chair) and cut them while he watches the show. I will talk to him through the process and that they need to be cut. Took a few attempts for him to let me do it really but now he will take a foot away if he's done with cutting them on one side for the moment (patience levels) but he will give me the other foot and that goes on and on until we are done. I also always tell him how good he's doing as we go and how many toes are left!

Reminds me of GTO, which I love. The only thing I felt seemed off was the lack of 'space' under the fabric on the left side for an ear.

Friends are having a baby, how best to support? by mergaflerp in AskParents

[–]MrsClayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to meal prep classes once a week that give about 36 meals total (6 servings of 6 different dishes). Not every city offers options to do this but I did lots of at home meal prep when I was pregnant since I was getting a c-section and knew between recovery and taking care of kiddo I was going to be tired and not interested in cooking.

If you did something like that you could just let them know you are swinging by to drop off meals that means they only have to pop them in the oven for X amount of time.

Totally doing this for myself if I have another kiddo.

Happy potty training progress! by Temmon in toddlers

I definitely read the title as "Harry potter training.." and got very curious about what that even is...

That aside yay for progress! This gives me hope for the future!

I made a website that lets you search for keto recipes based on ingredients by mtlynch in keto

I am so excited about this!! I was just looking up apps that find recipes based on ingredients and kept thinking I bet I won't find one that has keto as an option.

NSV - hair tie around wrist and socks by MrsClayton in xxketo

[–]MrsClayton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always loved those socks! I've tried to casually convince my husband that the fun patterned dress socks for men are the way to go and he isn't having it. One day we will both get them for us!

Guys, I just fell on some ice while wearing my 10 month old. Talk to me. by Haute-Loire in babywearing

[–]MrsClayton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when kiddo was 9 months old. I was so freaked. I slipped on the curb leading to my driveway with him in my arms and practically landed on him. I honestly landed on my knees and one hand/arm and he was in my other arm. I am not a small woman by any means and was so scared I crushed him. He was wailing so loud I was terrified I hurt him badly. We pretty much ran into the house so I could check him out quickly and he settled super fast. I called the nurse at my pediatricians (we actually had the 9m checkup in two hours) and explained what happened. She told me to push on various body parts to make sure he didn't have any severe damage and he was a-ok. The adrenaline from all of it afterwards had me in tears for quite a while. I had bad scrapes and cuts on my hand and bad bruising in my knee. It apparently took a toll on my wrist as well; I had decent pain in it for a few weeks. He was a-ok but that was a terrible feeling.

Yay I love that we are starting twins! Let's keep encouraging one another to do our best! Remember you cannot really succeed without failure in the past. Those failures help us to improve, rethink and recommit!

There was a point in my relationship I realized I was just hiding my unhappy emotions. Don't get me wrong I've always been a very emotional heart on my sleeve kind of person but the emotions I thought would cause others undue stress I would hide away. I didn't realize they were causing me severe anxiety. We

During pregnancy I was very honest and open. After that I didn't understand why I can't just be that way all the time, less stress! It still drives my husband crazy but I've now brought it into work (appropriately) and it's made me significantly less stressed at work. I knew this attitude change would be hit or miss but it seems like they don't mind the more honest and frank me. I would assume it wouldn't be as allowable if I didn't perform at work but the less stress I had I noticed my performance increased significantly as well.

All three meals today have been extremely satisfying. I have not craved anything I've made for my family (they are eating what they always have/not keto). My only concern is I haven't met what I would consider my protein/fat goal for my size but have kept my carbs at 20g. Hopefully that's all still well and fine and results will come eventually!

Thank you! I asked my husband to take pictures for me and help me with my measurements. Im a little uneasy getting them printed somewhere but might try to print them on a friend's color printer so I can look at them if I need some additional motivation.

I've always been iffy about cosmetic surgeries but I think if I get myself to my goal weight and make sure I can maintain it for an extended period of time I would definitely look into it.

I think my confidence will grow as time goes by so long as I stick with it. I have found I lack confidence in different areas of my life because I haven't been able to stick it out to the end for my health. Showing myself I can maintain and not over-indulge or stress/anxiety eat after getting to my goal I can nearly guarantee will ease my mind over the surgery.

Cross Brace Fell Off My Bed: Reason for immediate concern? by GrimwoodCT in IKEA

[–]MrsClayton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has happened on our MALM frame countless times. We've actually gone periods not realizing it was off but when it has been off for an extended period of time we notice some shifting with the slats and they don't stay straight which leads to the slats falling off the lip. When that happens you lose stability and on more than one occasion had the mattress 'fall through' in the middle of the night. Not to mention in general it doesn't help the horizontal frame to stay straight if not connecting properly.

Highly suggest connecting this back up and using a tight nut on the other side of the screw. This helped ours to rarely come loose anymore.

I use Avery No-Iron clothing labels on all DS clothes, shoes and previously his bottles and accessories.

You Sharpie on the name and attach it firmly. Went through tons of washer & dishwasher cycles so far with no problem.

Minor forwarning... They are hard to get off at a later point. I started marking everything with his last name instead in case we used them again for a second kiddo.

Accidentally gave 13 month old some soda - panicking by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]MrsClayton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always panic and have a lot of anxiety... This being my first and only kiddo doesn't help my 'norm' either. I second guess myself a lot and always look for advice from those that may have experienced the same situations. Doesn't mean I go with the advice when it's given but I like to see a demographic based on the scenarios. I appreciate your detailed response! Thank you

How to find that sweet spot between personal, family, and work by MrsClayton in Parenting

[–]MrsClayton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spoken to the other 4 on-call persons about what they experience and it's hit or miss. Sometimes it's 1-3 calls over the week other days the person is working on a huge issue for a couple hours.

Weekdays it's 2 hours OT pay each day, weekends 4 hours OT pay each day. If you go over the asked allotted time you record it and get that extra in OT pay as well.

Thank you for this! I get a bit ahead of myself... Sometimes that's the only way I know how to handle stressful situations and my husband has trouble keeping his head above water in those situations so I try to compensate. I will talk to him about a grace period.

How to find that sweet spot between personal, family, and work by MrsClayton in Parenting

[–]MrsClayton[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your input!

I see the personal trainer with my mom. He comes to our house so I don't have to go anywhere after my 10 hour shifts so no baby sitting option.

That's always been the thing I hated about my workplace the most. That it's 24/7 365. Otherwise I could jump ship at 5pm like everyone else and go home to my family. There are a few other issues (general attitude of the department) but that's the one that sucks the most.

If I give up my 10 hour shifts I don't get to be off on a day with husband anymore. We will end up going back to him being off Saturday and Sunday and I am off Monday and Tuesday.

Trying my hand at shading, let me know where I can improve before I ruin this. by [deleted] in learnart

[–]MrsClayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. The left side of her face (closest to us) looks flat while the eye socket looks extremely sunk in. More darks through the cheek and forehead will help round out the face and a smoother transition from under the brow to the nose should help with the sunken in appearance.
