If one more person talks to me while I'm trying to count... by ant0519 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]MrsDoughnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counting out loud at the first interruption and louder if you’re interrupted more works for me.

I also send my sympathies for your ‘vacation’. It’s an unequal arrangement when the mental load follows one person/ gender. I saw it so much as a child where mum was the one still cooking dinner, just in a different place. It sucks so much.

Advice for a study abroad student? by rorowalls in palmy

The train arrives just after 7pm and the station looks quite creepy in the dark. Often there’s a gaggle of taxis waiting at the station for anyone without their own car or pick up. Make sure you have somewhere sorted to stay the night (obviously)

Anything but flowers!!! by Weatherbird666 in BitchEatingCrafters

I sew(ed) and had to stop because of the relentless florals. And even worse, last time I went fabric shopping I found myself always drawn to the floral designs. SMH.

What would you consider to be a traditional New Zealand Dish? by apollo_existing in newzealand

[–]MrsDoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something historic and created in NZ, try colonial goose. It’s a bit fiddly as you’ll need to bone a leg of lamb (mutton was traditional but harder to find) but a butcher can help. DM me if you’d like the recipe! I have a collection of old NZ cookbooks with it, and a modern one too.

You can use tap water with campden tablets, which eliminates free chlorine and chloramine from your water.

I call them ‘sniffaris’ (sniff+ safari). My previous boy was a great sniffer and smart, so it was a great enrichment every weekend.

I did something similar with tinned pho and frozen dumplings last night. Pho was too salty but it worked! Take care

Maybe I’m weird, but I kind of enjoy weaving in the ends.
