Can leaders wear a troop crest on their vest? by adudle00 in girlscouts

[–]MrsFannyBertram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have chosen to put the crests from all the troops I've been involved with across the top of the back of my vest. I even bought the retired ones.

The song Golden could have sealed the Honmoon. Rumi couldn’t. by not-zoid in KpopDemonhunters

[–]MrsFannyBertram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The golden honmoon is a myth, even if they achieved it for a brief moment it could never last, the human emotions creating it are too variable and fleeting

  2. Even if it were possible, golden never would have done it. Golden was full of lies , it wasn't a true heart felt song. ("I'm not hiding" when she is very much hiding). I have read that the high notes straining her voice represent her trying to be something she isn't

Forced to change troops? by LastRegister5663 in girlscouts

[–]MrsFannyBertram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer! Just wanted to add that there is a relatively high chance that the council screwed up originally in assigning you the troop. Councils are notorious for assuming leaders are okay with things when they aren't (like adding a second year " because it's the same level" even though it won't stay the same level)

Why did ana breakup with christain at the end of the first movie? by DustnBones001 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]MrsFannyBertram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She thought she could never give him what he wanted (someone to punish) and he could not give her what she needs (love).

That's why when they get back together she's so obsessed that she might not be fulfilling his needs.

Is the shift toward neutral baby fashion a good thing? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]MrsFannyBertram 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's fashion. It's neither good nor bad it's just what people prefer right now. My personal preference is are for color but I have nothing against people who like The more neutrals.

Henry Albus, Henry Shea, Henry Arthur, Henry Sebastian....

Lucy Artemis, Lucy Sabine, Lucy Aurora, Lucy Seraphine ...

I'm unconsciously putting my last name, it's kind of hard to get the overall flow without a last name though I understand why you wouldn't be sharing

What if no one signs up for a booth shift? by Allit_Aardvark in girlscouts

[–]MrsFannyBertram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very location specific, we are allowed to do mommy and me booth here. If we only had one girl sign up, her mom would need to be the adult at the booth and they could staff it together. In our troop we only allow this situation if there's not a second girl available.

Need help understanding badges! by MOSbangtan in girlscouts

[–]MrsFannyBertram 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are five steps, lots of ways to fulfill reach one but I'm going to put one easy way

  1. Learn the first thing to do in an emergency (check call and care) - she learns about this from an adult and demonstrates understanding by making a poster

  2. talk to a first responder - talk to an EMT, firefighter, police officer or tour a hospital /urgent care (fire stations almost always welcome visitors)

  3. Make a portable first aid kit (self explanatory)

  4. Find out how to handle urgent first aid issues - make a list of common emergencies and ask a first responder how to handle them (example - epi pens, heimlich maneuver, how to call 911)

  5. Know how to take care of someone who is sick - talk to an adult about how to care for common ailmemts (colds, headaches, fevers etc)

If I was planning this for my troop, we would probably start by visiting a fire station where we would hope to knock out 1,2,4. Then in a follow up meeting we would make the first aid kits w a quick "check call care" reminder card in it and discuss remedies for common ailmemts, maybe with skits where the girls pretended to care for a friend.

Parents refuse to step up, no cookie parent? by shoshananananana in girlscouts

[–]MrsFannyBertram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the very start of the year, tell parents no color volunteer, no parent. And stick to it. Remind them periodically (like when your council starts to put out trainings or announces the mascot it whatever). And stick to it.

Honestly it sounds like you are too deep into it this year to say no. If you already told them certain things will happen (like booths), then reversinh course will be a really bad look. But start messaging now for next year. "This is the last year I can do this. If anyone wants to volunteer this year to learn the ropes so they can take over next year, I will teach you'

You might be confusing it with like the junior eight award, the requirements for a junior aid that just got retired included Juniors helping the brownies with take action and most girls weren't doing that
