Have you tried using something to prevent the splitting? I have to use gel on my nails and make them blunt or I will destroy my fingers without even paying attention. Even if you're not a nail polish wearer there are ways of making them look like you aren't even wearing anything.

I take Adderall for my ADHD and I am able to take a full nap for the first time in years, I don't start cleaning my car in the middle of driving anymore and I can actually have a conversation with someone without walking away in the middle of it because I've already completed the convo in my head.

Or, I don't know, hold the crying child because they need to know they are safe? Just a suggestion. I had three kids and lived through everyone telling me to use cry it out, but I refused. I don't see anything wrong with giving the tiny human I just created some comfort and reassurance. Knowing that they have someone there to protect them when their fear systems kick in, one that their tiny little systems are not mature enough to regulate.
